  1. This isn't a 3-8 team. They are going to have a solid run of winning consistently and it can't come soon enough. Starts today to win this series!
  2. Yup. Loss for us and the BoSox is still a win for them. Its one less game to make up the 2 we are behind. Sept has just sucked.
  3. We actually had some luck with 3 DPs and they made some base running errors. We just don't have the offense this season to win when our pitching is about average ish. This inning needs a circus tent put up over it.
  4. Frustrating game. Ramirez with a 3 run dong FFS of all people. Our RISP hitting has been so atrocious for too long. Big swings and not enough production. Still a chance to win with 5 more outs. Lets pull it out.
  5. Ya, his numbers are kind of fascinating. Enigma. His K rate is up and his BB rate is down. His LD%, hard and soft contact numbers are up but the number the infield fly balls % is way up, so medium contact has taken a huge hit. He is no longer an OF on any regular basis. He will settle in at DH/1B. There may always be some outlier GM willing to be over pay in a poor FA crop, but there needs to be some comparable to get 3/60 or more? He is 36 next month. "Respect" is a relative term in the baseball business that performance trumps. That's why Big Papi, who is a god in BOS, ended up starting to get 1 year extensions in 2011 when he wasn't too happy about it. He had a couple of leaner years around that time when he was Jose's age.
  6. If you look at hard age & production/value comparables its Ortiz and Beltre(still a premium defender in a premium position unlike Jose who never was). The pick hurts Jose in terms of getting more. That doesn't mean some GM isn't going to take more risk that and hope he rebounds for the next 3 seasons to sign something like Beltran's 3/45 deal. Although I can't imagine anyone wanting to keep sticking him in the OF. He just hasn't looked close to the player he was even last year, and 2015 was far removed from the 8 WAR ceiling he once had. Beltre has had seven 5 WAR seasons consecutively and got 2/36.
  7. I've not seen Jose looking so lost at the plate, since he broke out in 2010. Elite eye just not there and when he gets a pitch he isn't getting to it. Hope he breaks out.
  8. No its not over. But that sucked balls today. We finally put up 8 and Sanchez and our pen give up 11 in a game we could have tied them for 1st. Our rotation regression is a thing and its concerning. Just got to take them one at a time and see if we can't get it going with the time left.
  9. Watching on MLB TV and sitting in airport boarding area. I just scared the he'll out of 2 elderly ladies when Martin put the tag on! Yes!
  10. These dry periods are usually followed by epic downpours of heavy rain.
  11. We got spoiled in 2015. Funny thing is I think on paper this offense is better, but it hasn't executed as well. 4th in the AL is great - but when competing with mashers having a huge offensive season like the BoSox, if the rotation and/or pen falters, we are toast.
  12. $20 says you can't Gov! Lol
  13. The last 5 starts or so Happ and Estrada haven't really been throwing the ball well. Estrada had one good start mixed in there, but Happ is really struggling.
  14. Going to be in tough. All 3 of their SP's have been throwing the ball pretty well. Time to cowboy up Jays!
  15. I treat the whole Tebow thing like a troll on this board. I put it on a mental IL. It's a side show with extreme low probability of anything but 15 mins of fame. Wanna take a flyer? Sure. We'll see in a 2-3 years if there is anything there.
  16. Cecil is getting it together and is going to help us big time down the stretch and in the post season.
  17. This is solid. Not going to quibble. This is a lot of talent. Let's hope they can put some good ABs together today.
  18. lol. Our views positive or neg wont change a thing on the field obviously. But there is a lot of endless negative, reactionary BS on the board. GDTs are the worst. It would ne nice to just have a bit more confidence, positivity and realism. That's all.
  19. Was just listening to Matt Stairs interview. He said its better to have a skid early in Sept than late and this team has too much talent. The 1-4 start will be corrected. I was feeling awesome about all this with confidence bolstered. Then he said Jose is still playing good D in the OF...
  20. Yup. We should start a "Jays Optimism Thread - We are the Beasts of the East and going all the Way. f*** em' all". Last yr was an epic roll the last 1/3. I don't expect Sept to break that way, but I remember the math when we trailed the NYY by 7 2015. It sucked. Our boys just have to play better. The talent is there. The O's and BoSox fans are as unsure about the end result as we are.
  21. Have fun. I almost went but honestly don't know if I can take the manic stress of it all lol. I'll either be on suicide watch or ecstatic by next Monday. Whats it going to be? Reminds me of that big Yankee series last year and Martin's 3 run HR.
  22. Not criticizing you but I don't understand why anyone pays attention to these odds...unless they are betting. Its a total crap shoot at this point. The team that stays healthy and hot wins. Its that simple. Could be either of the 3. Jays are capable of being that team but I think the 3 are very equal. Unless "better" pitching on the Jays pitches better it means nothing and the same for our offense and defense on the field. How bad do they want it? Its there. Just play em one game at time and see what happens. I like our chances.
  23. Thanks Gov. Good to hear. I was in Van for some meetings yesterday and missed most of the game except the part where Grilli pitched in a lounge. Let's hope that continues. I never watch the highlights when we lose lol.
  24. Holy f***. Rough game and day for us. We are playing like ass and not getting many breaks. Grilli has been so good but got touched up twice on this road trip. Now would be a good time for 2015 Cecil to return and Jose to get hot and GTFO of RF. Still, it doesn't matter. If we can grind out a win today and take care of business against the BoSox we are golden. We control our own Sept destiny and what more can you ask for. Some of our guys have to step up. Its that simple.
