  1. I doubt Jays get Shark...been on-line for a few weeks and nothing has happened.
  2. Team control isn't there on Shark
  3. NL pitchers haven't had overwhelming success coming to Rogers Centre. Sanchez just had an excellent AFL season.
  4. If AA trades Sanchez for Shark and it doesn't work out Anthopoulos career as executive be over. On top of all the other bad trades and bad contracts he's made. No other team will touch him. Strong chance it doesn't work out because Sanchez has great arm and NL pitchers coming to Rogers haven't worked out well
  5. Toronto gonna trade their best prospect for Jeff Samardzija? It was hard enough for Anthopoulos to do it for RA Dickey. Then he wanted a window to negotiate 4 year control. Dickey was reigning Cy Young winner. What has Samardzija ever proven? Right now he's mid-rotation starter...Toronto could sign a guy, difference between the two isn't worth his best prospects.
  6. Do we have to give up a pick if we sign Arroyo?
  7. Rasmus wouldn't get Phillips....Geez, that is surprising.
  8. One of better centerfielders and closers in the game should get ya a mid-rotation starter, backup catcher and Phillips who Reds are trying to move?
  9. I would look for some kind of 3 team trade with Jays dealing Rasmus and a reliever for Shark, Phillips and Hanigan
  10. Bruce Levine of ESPNChicago.com reports that the Blue Jays are "putting together a package of young players" in trade talks with the Cubs regarding Jeff Samardzija. The Cubs have discussed a multi-year contract extension with Samardzija, but they could end up deciding to deal him if they determine an extension doesn't look likely. The Nationals are also known to have interest in the right-hander. Samardzija, 28, is under team control through the 2015 season.
  11. Jays should have done something like this? Dump a bad contract in a Buehrle for a Fielder type? Allows them to trade a Bautista or Encarnacion for a top starter and decent catcher without great loss in power? Buehrle is more like a #4 starter on good team, he's not much as a #2 starter in tough AL East. The 30 million Tigers gave up would lower Fielder's contract to 20 million, Buehrle scheduled to make 18+19 million next 2 years. Not much difference. Fielder would hit 50+ homers at Rogers. Be primary a DH though.
  12. Not sure?
  13. Salaries balance out but doubt Jays would do this. Get an ace but punch hole in RF, with loss of power. Jays probably be better off waiting a year until Sanchez and Stroman are ready. Plus a few bad contracts will be worked off. But doubt Anthopoulos has time to wait another year. He may be forced to trade a Bautista to contend this year.
  14. Not enough of upgrade for Jays to warrant giving up Bautista.
  15. Or...Bautista + one of our bad contracts for Lee + Brown.
  16. A National League general manager has indicated to the Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo that Jose Bautista could be available via trade. "It’s a name we’re hearing through back channels right now, but wouldn’t be surprised if he’s available" the GM said. Howard Eskin of FOX 29 TV and 94 WIP reported last week that the Phillies were nearing a deal for Bautista, but while that report was debunked, it does appear the slugger could be available. The Blue Jays would want pitching in return.
  17. Jays have a hole in RF then. I highly doubt Jays are adding a frontline pitcher.
  18. They won't get a good starter unless trading one of Bautista or Encarnacion. Jays must be looking at a 4th starter type. Unless he purges what's left in the farm?
  19. What can Jays trade to get a good starter if not Bautista or Encarnacion though?
  20. Sounds like they going for an innings eater instead of quality by targeting a Jeff Samardzija
  21. ESPN's Buster Olney writes that the Royals "want to work something out with Josh Johnson." Johnson had a brutal 6.20 ERA in 16 starts with the Blue Jays this year, but he's been a frontline pitcher in the past and the Royals are hoping to get him on a low-risk, one-year deal. Johnson was not given a qualifying offer from Toronto, so signing him does not require the forfeiture of a top draft pick. Because of all these factors, he is likely drawing interest from multiple teams.
