ESPN's Buster Olney writes that the Royals "want to work something out with Josh Johnson."
Johnson had a brutal 6.20 ERA in 16 starts with the Blue Jays this year, but he's been a frontline pitcher in the past and the Royals are hoping to get him on a low-risk, one-year deal. Johnson was not given a qualifying offer from Toronto, so signing him does not require the forfeiture of a top draft pick. Because of all these factors, he is likely drawing interest from multiple teams.
