I'm gonna guess Axford wanted/asked for it. With Hand and Soria being acquired, Pearson being converted to a reliever and one of Matz/Stripling probably also going to the pen, they probably didn't have space for Axford on the roster anymore. Having built himself back up as a professional pitcher, he probably didn't want to just call it quits because the Jays didn't have roster space. This way, they move him to the team he's most familiar with, at a time where they're bonafide contenders. -

Even with TJS, he'd probably be faster to the league than whoever they pick #11 next year. And Rocker's going to have literally no leverage next year and would have benefited from rehabbing in a world-class major league facility. This move is puzzling and hurts both parties. It just sounds like the Mets found something in the physical, lowballed him, and Rocker's camp refused to take the pay cut out of spite/anger. But whatever the Mets' lowball offer was, it was probably still better than what he'll make next time without all the added risk.

I'm honestly surprised they let Rocker go. I feel with a talent of that caliber, the chance you can rehab/fix whatever you found in his arm is still higher than a standard #11 pick in most years.

We were sitting behind and to the right of the dugout so we had no idea that happened until we got notifications from MLB.TV, lmao. I love the personality on this team.

Great set of games. Turned the season series against the Royals around from 1-3 to 4-3.

That wave went around like 12 times. I didn't pay attention to the dugout on the first 4-5 loops but I noticed Vladdy on one of them standing at the front of the dugout and join in. I tried to record him doing it again but he didn't, lol.

One of the hecklers behind us got shot down, lmao. Two girls with dirty blonde hair came and took the empty seats in our section and immediately started taking selfies and Instagram story videos and this dude walks down to them and asks them if he wants them to take a picture of both them. They're like nah we're good, lmao. His buddy's like "you had to take your shot, eventually someone will say yes." Guy who got shot down was salty. Started complaining about how they have fake hair hahaha. Some hilarious s*** always happens near me whenever I go to the game.

Lol, kid makes incredible catch on that foul and a guy behind me yells "Hey Dozier, did you see that?!" Earlier the guy said "Dozier, when your mom said you can play third base she was lying!"

They already had Cimber, Richards and Dickerson when Atkins was regularly giving interviews about still needing to improve the team's defense and pen. I really don't see how Hand and Soria accomplishes that.
