How old is this f***ing Tigers commentator? It's making me nauseous how sleepy and exhausted he sounds, I hate it.
He's flat-out slurring every single word.
lol, BNS left out the most important bit of context in his original tweet:
So we were speculating for nothing. This wasn't a Blue Bird decision, it was a Greg Bird decision.
My best guess is some other teams liked what they saw with Bird and told his agent they could give him a more concrete role than what the Jays had to offer and so they asked out. Shatkins would likely honor that type of request.
That being said, I'm surprised my head isn't sweating from the amount of mental gymnastics I'm currently doing to figure out how this leads to Jose Ramirez on the Blue Jays.
I was certain Birb was getting an opening day roster spot so I have no idea what this means tbh. It could be something boring like wanting two of Lukes, Katoh, Collins and Fowler on the major league roster but there are reasons for all four of those things to not make sense. And they already had one open spot for one of those guys after the McGuire trade.
Unless they have some complicated trade lined up, I'm pretty confused about this.

If anything, I think this trade makes it less likely they're still in on Jose Ramirez.
I mean, if the Guardians come back and say they're willing to talk, I'm sure a McGuire/Collins swap is not going to get in the way of that, but the idea behind a Ramirez trade is that Kirk is going back the other way. I don't see them getting rid of McGuire for a guy who is a total project at this point if they're expecting Danny Jansen to be their new starting C.
Collins vs. McGuire is a loss of 2.0 fWAR in 2021 stats (McGuire was 1.3, Collins -0.7) but Collins absolutely murdered baseballs at every level of the minors between 2016-19.
Possible they see something in him that they can unlock.
1. Chapman has a 104 wRC+ projection while Kirk has the second-highest on the team at 129. Until Chapman proves his recent offensive woes were as a result of the hip issues and he actually bounces back with the bat, I think the placement of those two guys in the lineup is perfect.
2. I like that. I actually didn't realize Biggio was in RF. I just saw he was replacing Gurriel in the outfield and my brain assumed he would be in LF.
3. Agreed, that's the only lineup change I would make to the above order (though I don't think it's a big deal).
