  1. Hitching onto the Raptors hype train. Never followed the NBA before, so I've got a lot to pick up, and yeah, I'm probably the epitome of a bandwagon fan, but I don't care. I owe it to myself for following the Jays. Was Carter crying because this is the first time where he wasn't booed into the ground at the ACC?
  2. Yeah just saw the thread, derp on my part. I'd grown accustomed to thinking that nobody ever used the offtopic forum to talk about anything other than fantasy ball, so I didn't even think to check first.
  3. I wouldn't be surprised if I was one of the rippers, so I apologize if I was. I can admit that. I was very much against trading Rasmus because I felt he still had a lot of under-appreciated value, but it turns out I was wrong at the time.
  4. I guess this is as close to an offtopic thread we have, but does anyone here follow the NBA? I've never been much of a fan of basketball, but I feel like bandwagoning a bit since the Raps are doing well right now. Big game on right now, Grizzlies at Raptors, Raps are up 9-0 to start.
  5. Probably above Lester is Scherzer, but I don't see either of them living up to the contract they'll get, and they're both probably out of the price range. Someone who I think does have a strong case for such a contract, and won't cost as much, is Shields. He'd be a significant upgrade on practically everyone on the Jays staff right now. I also like Harang, and really like McCarthy, both of whom should at least be substantially better than Happ, and probably over Buerhle, who I don't see breaking much higher than 1.5-2 wins next year. Now is it a smart investment to put that much money into a pitcher of that mould when you do have passable SP and glaring holes elsewhere on the diamond? That's another question. But yes, there are guys that would significantly improve what we've got right now, and at least provide some injury insurance, something that we probably should consider, after how lucky the rotation was last year. Outside of the conversation of strictly SP's, I think you have to at least call Villanueva in regards to a reunion. He's always been a very decent long relief/swingman type and he'd be one of my preferences for the role.
  6. Moogy a member of the hive confirmed.
  7. I'm wondering how much Billingsley is expected to make. If you can get him for a minor league deal, with a decent guaranteed MLB contract if he makes the team out of spring training, I think you have to explore that option. I don't think his value can be lower than it is, coming off of two major surgeries, but the talent has always been there.
  8. I did put down the contract/control terms in the OP for that reason, since it does make an exponential impact on the value of the trade, but I guess it's still possible that people voted without reading.
  9. Glossing over the fact that Reyes won't even be on the roster in 2019 (his guaranteed contract ends after '17), you realize that in 2019, three players making 60M is barely going to be considered an albatross, right? It's hardly crippling even now. The Jays have a swarm of talent in the farm that will be making it up in waves and will cost them nothing, and by the time they have to give free agent contracts to guys like Hoffman, Norris, Pompey, Sanchez, even Stroman, all of the big contracts that are currently on the ticket will be off the books. AA has a golden track record when it comes to negotiating contracts. Complain all you want about anything else this club does, but there's two areas in which it's very hard to fault the Jays: amateur scouting, and contract negotiations. Until they completely s*** the bed and hand out a downright atrocious contract, you won't have any legs to stand on, no matter how much you want to rant and complain about it.
  10. I won't rage if they get Panda, but there's smarter ways to spend that money. And if you're going to go as far as 100M for Panda, why not just go the extra mile and pick up Shields? I hope the end result out of all of this is that we learn that the money is actually there, that it gets put to better use, and that this whole thing is just AA despairing Panda, Cherington and Sabean all in one fell swoop.
  11. http://i.imgur.com/py2PxcN.gif I wish anyone else had made this post, so I could thank it.
  12. Without looking at the projections, I feel like Headley will cost half as much and be twice as valuable as Pandoval.
  13. I'm not a huge fan of Sandoval when compared to the alternative options out there, but if there's any truth to the rumor, then you have to feel pretty f***ing great to know there's still that much money available.
  14. Buehrle will cost nothing after his contract runs out, he'd be a great guy to bring back on a lower salary. He's still a work horse, he'll still probably be medicore-to-decent, and he's always been a great coaching presence in the club house. That being said, I doubt he'll personally want to return. His life is so much easier when he can live in a place where he can stay with his dogs and family.
  15. Then report the person using the http://i.gyazo.com/60a8efbceaeeaf7da16ac47be9f77d1e.png icon found at the bottom left of every post, or PM a moderator directly and let them take care of it. Mods hate the trolls more than you or anyone else here, because they're the ones that receive increased work and stress by having to deal with them. I'd also point out that your join date is September 2014 and you already have 450 posts and claim to know enough about everyone here to recognize their writing patterns. So no offence but you have absolutely no right to be accusing others of being dupes when you're young enough here to have that easily turned back on you.
  16. I'm not sure what that means, but I'm going to take a shot in the dark and assume it's a dated 60's reference for fanny pack wearing hipsters with grey neckbeards and Star Wars cosplay outfits. Don't you have somewhere to be? Your under-the-staircase fort with your ninja turtle action figures and your fedora?
  17. Because according to him, he's an all-growed-up adult. That's why he's constantly (failing at) ridiculing the younger members of the board for their age. He probably thinks it's "hip" to use hashtags on forums. Picture Wilner.
  18. You're right, my apologies. I'll revise my picture selection.
  19. Ridicules pro wrestling, makes ninja turtle references and assumes they're general knowledge to the point of being instantly recognized and understood by random people on sports forums. "Thinking is hard". *Editor's note: image revised so as not to be insensitive by exposing Moogy's true likeness to the general public* http://rs1img.memecdn.com/the-beginning_o_1041476.jpg
  20. "But I'm sure I'll be talked about and the derelict troll hunters will be searching posts for evidence of a new incarnation. RIP Moogy. RIP." That was in reference to only avoiding one thread? Just admit that this forum is your only way to cope with the emptiness in your life, and that you're a spineless puss that never had any intention of "leaving" despite the fact that, yes, that's exactly what you said you would do. If the mods ban you, you'll come back with alts. Someone as insecure and unstable as you derives too much fulfilment from the kind of attention you get here, and you'll cling on to that with every thing you've got. I also want to ask, why do you have such deep-seated issues when it comes to things like homosexuality and short people? Is it because those things hit close to home? I can't help but notice that you desperately grab every possible opportunity to make homosexual innuendos, or talk about "men in tights", or to go out of your way to constantly paint Stroman as a midget or a "standing elbow rest" as you put it. Are you a closeted little person? Because that's okay. There's no need to be ashamed. As for the picture, I'm not even going to ask what you typed into google to find it. Some things are best left confined to the perverse imaginations of sociopaths.
  21. In a rare millennial occurrence, Wilner actually gave a decent interview on the Sammut/Rusic show re: Martin. If ass-clowns like Wilner are heavily referring to pitch-framing as a credible talent, maybe it's not as esoteric as it once was and shouldn't be that much of a surprise that the market is actually putting a value on it now.
  22. Can a mod please change Moogy's name to "Stoeten"?
  23. Aoki's a decent target. I don't see him as a player on a world series calibre team, but he just went to the WS with the Royals so what do I know. Markakis will cost too much.
  24. Yeah, there's no way it'd take Norris. Based on rumors, it doesn't seem like Seattle is high on either of those players anymore. Norris is right on the outside of being a blue chip prospect. Even if they asked for him, Alex would never do it.
