  1. lol, told you guys Baldo would be a s*** signing.
  2. Was just about to post this. It was obvious that he wants the position, you can tell the way he was talking about it. He's just being PC to maintain professionalism and to not turn his back on his contract. It's damn near exactly like the Farrell situation. Though, if he can't resign, and the Jays getting permission is the only possible way for this to happen, it doesn't seem like Angelos is ready to let go.

  4. lol wut Ang, do you know anything about this?
  5. I was at this game, in the section right behind home plate. This was a great moment. Kawasaki's first homer, and the Davis walk-off made this a really fun game to see in person. I think this was in the middle of that crazy win streak.
  6. My favorite bit was when you left out that you also called him an *******.
  7. Yes but fortunately, they don't make up 98% of the fan base, like O's fans do. Red Sox and Yankee fans have always been obnoxious, but they don't seem like the bitter emotional ****s that O's fans do.
  8. A manager does something to piss you off in 1993 = totally justifiable seething hatred for his franchise 22 years later, long after that guy is gone. I think O's fans are just moronic *******s in general. I remember the first time they made the playoffs a few years back, all of the O's fans on the baseball sites I posted on were instantaneously more obnoxious than any Yankees fans I'd ever seen. I think most of these guys are probably people who freshly jumped onto the O's bandwagon a few years ago, and are just stuck in that extremely bitter limbo, where the team wins enough that you don't want to jump off the bandwagon, but doesn't win enough to grab a championship. I'm sure if the Jays make it to the playoffs, Toronto boards will be full of these retards eventually too. If anyone's looked at RealGM during some of the Raptors games lately, they'll know what I mean.
  9. I think I tried signing up to their board a while back. Isn't it one of those forums that don't let you post till moderators activate your account? I could be thinking of a Sox board.
  10. "If she's interested in him, she has no right to speak with him or make any attempt of approaching him in any way", Angelos said today, holding back tears. "She'd have to ask me if I want to give him up. I'm NOT giving him up, period. He's committed to me for the next four years, and I'm delighted with this relationship. We intend to be together for the next four years. We're satisfied, obviously." "As far as our relationship is concerned, he's my boyfriend, and I expect him to remain with me for the remaining four years of high school. And very likely for additional years after prom."

  12. "The rule is if they're interested in our GM, they have no right to speak with him or make any attempt to induce him into taking any position," Angelos said today in a phone interview. "They would have to contact us and ask if we're willing to relinquish him. We're not relinquishing him, period. He's signed for four more years and we're delighted by the team's performance. We intend for him to remain for the next four years. We're satisfied with him, obviously." "As far as the Orioles are concerned, he's our GM and we expect him to remain for the four years remaining on his contract. And very likely for additional years once that contract has expired." Anyone else feel like he's very unsubtly coming off as a scorned and desperate girlfriend?
  13. Yeah I have a hard time understanding their hate for the Toronto Blue Jays. Such a weird team to hate from an Orioles perspective. The Jays haven't made the playoffs in 20 years, they've never ripped off the O's in trade, they've never signed away a big ticket O's free agent, and I don't remember any major on-field issues between the two teams (like Machado/Donaldson). I don't think I've ever seen a Jays fan that ranted about how they genuinely hate the Orioles. Not sure I really get it. Maybe it's that streak of games where the Jays destroyed them for a bit, a few years ago? Maybe I'm misremembering, but I think the Jays beat them handedly for a stretch of a few seasons. Long-term resentment about that? Can't think of any other reason.
  14. This is f***ing hilarious. This has to be the despair job of the decade. The night right before the winter meetings, and all this s*** coming about the Jays possibly poaching every teams head executive. All these fan bases and beat reporters are going to be in panic mode, thinking their teams will be distracted during the meetings instead of focusing on their clubs.
  15. Exactly. He didn't deny anything. What I took from his other quotes is that he actually would be very much interested in a promotion of this calibre: "You know the good thing is that baseball is always interesting, if you do a good job there are always opportunities." "I don't know much about the opportunity in Toronto. When the Boston club was being sold, the position was something that I had interest in." People don't often use the word "opportunity" for something they aren't interested in. He also makes sure to point out that he's had interest in this kind of position in the past (with the Red Sox).
  16. So basically, Angelos is shamelessly implying that he's going to do everything he can to force Duquette to stay. A lot of his comments really come off in a "we own you" type of way. Seems like dumb business. If someone genuinely wants to leave for another competitor, why would you force them to stay when you can no longer 100% trust that they'll give their undivided attention to your company? And again, can't Duquette simply resign, if he genuinely wants a job with another team?
  17. If Duquette wants the job bad enough, he can probably just resign from his gig with the Orioles. Of course that would probably destroy any chances the Jays have of making any transactions with them, but seeing as how that's already such a rarity due to the dumbass practice of not trading in-division, I guess that's not such a bad thing.
  18. You don't know terrifying. While I was putting that picture together on photoshop, I had a very hard time keeping my eyes away from what looks quite obviously like herpes on Beeston's upper lip.

  20. Sickels' ratings for Cubs system are in... It's like the batting equivalent of what the Diamondbacks had back in 2012 (Parker, Skaggs, Bradley, Bauer). To put those ratings in perspective, there's a good chance the Jays have zero "A" rated players when he does their system eventually.

  22. He's probably coming on to squash this rumor completely before it gets out of hand.
  23. How does it do f*** all for the Jays if Duquette was in the middle of all of their transactions and trade talks, knows exactly what players the O's had on the block, and has knowledge of who the best minor league talent is in the farm system? Some guy on MLBTR wants Pompey, Pillar and Chuck LaMar as a compensation package http://i.imgur.com/py2PxcN.gif
  24. I like this, but I think I'd probably like any AL East GM taking a position with the Jays. He knows more about the Orioles top-to-bottom than anyone else probably does. Duquette's a good GM. Don't know why this made me laugh.
