  1. Three weeks ago, the Jays had three good bats. And then they got Martin. And then they had four. And then they got Donaldson. And then they had five. And then they got Saunders. And now you like the "top 6". How about we just wait.
  2. Why would Rogers fire AA for not doing anything, when it was them holding him back from making any moves? Even at the trade deadline, people from other teams were telling Rosenthal that the Jays are claiming they can't take on any payroll, or trade any great prospects.
  3. I have a feeling that all this s*** going on in the AL Central is going to make the Tigers panic and re-sign Scherzer.
  4. Rumblings Royals making Infante available: Callaspo has deal with Braves, only pending a physical: Sternberg says Rays search for new stadium should take "no more than a few years": Royals saying Holland/Davis/Herrera no longer available: Passan thinks that will change when RP market develops further: Cubs expected to take on entire Montero salary, Diamondbacks will need a new catcher: Key Tweets
  5. That should put a pin in that one for the foreseeable future.
  6. Samardzija deal is finally official:
  7. Somebody at Rogers is out to end Beeston era with Blue Jays By Steve Simmons, Toronto Sun TORONTO - The clumsy backstabbing of Paul Beeston reeks of corporate awkwardness and baseball inexperience. It is one hell of a foolish and disrespectful way to treat a man who has given his life to baseball in this city, all of this happening in the backdrop of a most optimistic Blue Jays off-season. This piece of corporate sabotage, performed by an unidentified person or more within the hierarchy of Rogers Communications Inc. — and we haven’t been able to surmise who signed off on this — was an artless end-around to remove Beeston from his position as president of the Blue Jays, and remove him without his knowledge or participation. http://media0.giphy.com/media/Rhhr8D5mKSX7O/giphy.gif
  8. He's saying he knows how to "fudge" with the numbers. He knows how to write a profit off as a loss, well enough where every national accounting firm would agree with him.
  9. Cubs on verge of acquiring Montero: Sox offer to Masterson was only one year: Pirates working on re-signing Liriano: Athletics not looking to trade Kazmir. Might now actually be looking to buy: All four Lester offers in 6/150 range (winner expected to have to go 7/175):
  10. Lol did anyone know that Beeston once said this? I didn't know if I should believe it, but then I found it for myself here. http://i.gyazo.com/f12c9408b8cf8a5c33bb581fa83d25ba.png Puts that whole "Rogers lost money on the Jays in 2013" claim into perspective.
  11. Madison Bumgarner once dated a girl named Madison Bumgarner By Grant Brisbee @mccoveychron on Dec 9 2014, 10:58a You should read Tom Verducci's profile on Madison Bumgarner for Sports Illustrated's "Sportsman of the Year" award because it's fantastic and well-written, because it's a compelling look into the personal life of one of the best pitchers in baseball. You should read it for all sorts of reasons. But that doesn't mean that Verducci didn't bury the lede under hundreds of other words. http://i.gyazo.com/1e8a9118153c4de284a3d5a8bfeb90b5.png Madison Bumgarner would pick up the phone, and ask Madison Bumgarner on a date. Madison Bumgarner would hold hands with Madison Bumgarner on their way to the burger joint, where Madison Bumgarner and Madison Bumgarner would look into each other's eyes. The night might have ended with Madison Bumgarner giving Madison Bumgarner a polite peck on the cheek. Madison Bumgarner dated Madison Bumgarner, everyone. This is fascinating, not because of tired stereotypes about the South, but because a Madison Bumgarner dating a Madison Bumgarner isn't something Northern Exposure or Archer would have tried to get away with. Luckily, real life manages to be more interesting sometimes.
  12. Anyone with BP subscription wanna share? http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=25166
  13. This makes me realize how much I loved watching Lawrie's first stint in the majors, and how similar it is to how much I loved watching Arencibia's first game. Both are two of my fondest Blue Jays memories. Unfortunately, that's probably the extent of it, and now that they've both been replaced by bona fide superstars, I don't think I'm going to miss them much anytime soon.
  14. And with that, I'm gonna get some long overdue sleep, lol. See you guys in the morning.
  15. According to Slusser, the Athletics return is at least Bassitt and Semien. Could possibly be more.
  16. Yeah, had a feeling something was strange, since nobody else had anything on it, but now Heyman is also reporting it (not sure if he's going off the false SportsCenter fail or not)
  17. Surprised at how dead the forum is lately. Usually you'd expect to see more reactions to a signing like this, even at this time.
  18. Jays are notorious for doing nothing during the Winter Meetings. AA has spoken enough about how he doesn't like making moves amidst all the chaos. I kinda wish it wasn't like that, since the moves during the meetings get so much coverage. Oh well, as long as he gets the moves done and the team's as good as it can be come March, I can live with them taking their time. Still cautiously hoping they do something before the meetings are up.
  19. a) most random development of the day. he means Chris Johnson, right?
  20. A voice in my head just told me that the Jays are going to sign Shields. That shouldn't be a surprise. Everybody that represents Toronto is awkward.
