Man, I wanted Price to come back so bad in 2015. I knew it was a bad idea and I liked getting Happ but I didn't expect Happ to outproduce Price overall in those 3 years.
Pretty happy to see him get lit up now especially for Boston.
You're right! I f***ed up. "Did not clear waivers" is the quote. I took that as = claimed. For those interested in it, start at 1:02:49 when Sid asks the question: https://www.sportsnet.ca/590/tim-and-sid
Such an odd way of saying it, but I guess that is GM talk.
Yeah, I thought the same as the entire hoopla with JD being 'injured/sore calf' last week made his waiver fuzzy. Because the player has to be healthy / rehab assignment before MLB would consider them waiver eligible?
Atkins on Tim & Sid said that they know the player and they didn't clear waivers, they were claimed. So it can't be Merryweather? He's on the DL and cannot be put on waivers no?
No? The Yankees claimed Robertson a few years ago so to block the Jays from getting him. They were already out of the post season push by that point: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/08/yankees-claim-david-robertson-waivers.html
"11:50am: Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports hears from a source that part of the Yankees’ motivation in making the claim was indeed to prevent the Blue Jays from having an opportunity to acquire Robertson (Twitter link)."
On top this year the Dodgers claimed Harper to block him as well.
He has had such a turnaround since his post-DL stint. Since June 1st he's hitting at 132 wRC+ but most encouraging is his K rate is down to 21.8%. Not crazy BABIP levels either at .299 which is around his career norm (.303). Overall for the season he now sitting at 111 wRC+, 1.3 WAR.
Not bad for Leon/Green. Diaz trade is even better considering J.B. Woodman got released.
Look, I am not saying he's the next Trout. Obviously. Trout is RHH. McKinney is LHH. He's the next Harper. Like 2015 MVP Harper, not this .247 BA 2018 Harper.
"I was watching a game on MILB.tv earlier this year and he started a game with 10 straight balls... I mean, when you start like that you're destined for the bullpen".
Fan-f***ing-tastic.
With how much you talk about Gore, I thought it was Mackenzie Gore. lol. I was like "...NO! What? The Padres gave up Gore? ... Why would the cubs do that?" then I realize it Terrance Gore.
Look, all I am saying is with 14 wins Porcello has been critical to the Red Sox success this year. Not that MOookie Bets guy or other dudes. I mean, he is clearly their ace. Should be a strong candidate for Cy.
