  1. The point is, just because you believe that it would take 200M doesn't mean that it actually would. Unless you test the waters you don't know. If we would have thrown 150M to his agent, he likely would have said it's not enough which is fine. But then when Red Sox came with a 200M+ his agent would at least call the Blue Jays and tell them we have this much money on the table, are you in the same ball park? And we may have said we can do 160M but that's it, then it would have been up to Price to decide what to do. Again, just because 8 out of 10 is about money, doesn't mean that the other 2 out of 10 wouldn't give you any kind of discount if you can convince them that this is where they suppose to be regardless of money. Chances are it wouldn't work but you just don't know cause you didn't try. Same thing with Donaldson, you don't know he's available unless you try, that's why AA got him and none else did.
  2. I would rather hear from Price's agent that we at least talked to him and made some "reasonable" offer. Even if it was only 150M, at least you tried.
  3. Not sure if this was posted before but this one is hilarious. http://m.mlb.com/video/v538735783/donaldson-discusses-blue-jays-pitching-facing-price
  4. To me, he should either start in the big league rotation or AAA rotation. If you keep him in the pen you pretty much kill his chances of developing his other pitches and give up on the idea of him ever starting. And we all know it's only a matter of time before we need someone from AAA to start, I rather it's him after he had some time to work on his pitches than some of the other failed AAAA guys we have.
  5. Taking Gallardo only makes sense if you keep the same starters you have now.
  6. Maybe the deal was, if you save any arbitration money then no need to send another player later, if arbitration is above X amount, we will pay the difference but you gotta send a player. If that's the case, by saving money we may not need to ship out another player in the deal.
  7. You think we can convert Dickey into a very good pitcher? I doubt it. Besides, I like the fact he gives us 200+ innings of ~4 ERA. Hard to replace it.
  8. He kills Blue Jays hitting though, that gotta factor for something.
  9. I would rather see their pets as team captains than the actual persons.
  10. You can't really argue that Sanchez is nothing. Like him or not he's at least a decent MLB player. For a player to reach the majors is a feat by itself, let alone stay there on a fairly consistent basis. I'm sure we all can agree that Sanchez is likely to be on the 25 men roster this season which IMO doesn't make him nothing.
  11. AA spoke on Tim and Sid last night and it was pretty clear that he was fairly OK with not having the GM title as long as he had people that he would love to be around on a daily basis. That is why he declined Shapiro and that's why he chose LA. Not sure if true or not but he said even if it was working with the same people in Tampa, he would be OK with that (tiny payroll).
  12. I hope they bring him to spring training with the big boys, it can do wonders to him.
  13. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/marcus-stroman-i-want-to-be-the-ace/ Very nice article mainly about Stroman, one thing to take from it, looks like Sanchez is now training with both Stroman and his Duke rehab team.
  14. I'm worried about the 200+ innings that we will need to fill. I'm just as scared as anyone else when he piches but he gives you 200+ quality innings when all is said and done.
  15. Not sure it's good to put a young kid that easily cracks under pressure at leadoff.
  16. Check his last 2 years vs Storen's last 2 years. It's 2 WAR vs 1 WAR.
  17. Revere is a 2 WAR outfielder and Storen is a 1 WAR closer. Revere makes 6.7M and has 2 years of control, Storen makes 8.8M and has 1 year of control. Needs to be quite a bit of money coming back to be worth it honestly...
  18. I'm betting he gets more money there than he did as a GM here.
  19. Great, we missed another international free agent.
  20. Kinda gives AA a good case for trading away so many prospects, they tend to bust anyway.
  21. I also chose no. If contracts weren't a problem and you were trying to win it all and you're after the all star break, assuming the young players have barely any experience, Bautista, EE, Martin and Tulo are more likely to win it for you than the young ones. If the question is about overall value then obviously it's it makes no sense.
  22. Dodgers seem to want him, we don't stand a chance.
  23. Looks like he changed his mind, dirt infield for next season they say. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-planning-to-install-dirt-infield-for-2016/
  24. You will care once you're old enough to legally work.
  25. I just found out that I'm entitled to another day off cause Boxing day falls on a Saturday, yey!!!
