  1. Torontonians are literally tracking some random flight which he may or may not be on. The worst part is this isn't even the first time they've done this in the past 5 years (Kawhi Leonard saga fiasco).
  2. Ah yes, the famously reasonable and paragons of morality, the BBWAA.
  3. There's more teams than just the Dodgers in play for his services lol.
  4. Judge? If anything I would think Soto DH's a lot more than Judge unless they're babying him in an attempt to keep him relatively healthy for a full season.
  5. It's probably a few things: 1a. They hate their internal options at 2B / prefer their OF options over 2B - Michael Busch might literally struggle to put on a glove 1b. They think it's easier to sign or trade for a better OF than 2B 2. The positional adjustment for 2B means Betts being a good defensive RF is about equal to him being an average 2B (10 run adjustment from RF to 2B in a vacuum). 3. They have him signed forever for a bunch of money and he's athletic enough to handle multiple positions as necessary, so just bounce him back and forth as required. If tomorrow Jose Altuve lands on their lap I'm sure Betts will have no problems transitioning back to the outfield.
  6. Yes he is lol. Nick Martinez just signed for 2/26 in Cincinnati and he would've been a significantly better option than Gonzales at 1/12. Hell, Severino at 1/13 would've actually been good with his demonstrated upside and the Braves' pitching development.
  7. Yeah no s***, no contending team would actually acquire Marco Gonzales as a contributor, he was just part of the salary dump. They might as well just cut him, I guess they could try to eat some contract to give him to the Royals for $1M in 2024 for a D level prospect rather than eat the whole cost.
  8. If his floor was 1.5-2 WAR the Mariners wouldn't be dumping him in a dead money deal. This was the best season of his career by far and he barely even fit that floor threshold with a higher than sustainable BABIP. It's like saying Vlad's floor is a 3 WAR 1B/DH, as has been demonstrated, it's considerably lower. Kelenic's is below replacement.
  9. Guys that normally don't steal aren't drawing 2 disengagements to begin with.
  10. TIL Nico Hoerner is a slap hitting glove-first guy with wheels. I guess it doesn't make sense for the Cubs to have two plus shortstops on the team so might as well replace Nico with a better hitter who can probably be decent at second. Weird to trade for an elite SS and then move him off the position (despite Bo's middling defense) though. I don't think the Blue Jays are in a position to trade away more offense for defense however. The lineup would look pretty ugly by replacing Bo with Hoerner.
  11. On names alone this looks like a horrendous trade for the Braves, until you take a step back and realize all of those guys they moved away suck and they’re clearing up a bunch of fringer 40-man roster space. Bummer has good stuff.
  12. His defense is hilariously bad. He must be Teoscar like in that he's a physical specimen and very athletic (plus sprint speed and plus plus baserunning) but has negative defensive IQ. Might be a modern day Michael Young, where he's utility in the loosest sense of the word, bad at every position. Maybe you hope some coaching can make him passable.
  13. Varsho and Robert Jr. have equal amounts of 5 fWAR seasons and project for a < 0.5 WAR difference.
  14. I mean for lack of a better term, this is because he's fat lol. Manoah is built like an ox, he's definitely very strong, you don't really achieve throwing a ball that fast for 100 pitches (stamina and endurance concerns notwithstanding) without being very strong. There's definitely muscle under there. I'm sure someone is gonna say "akshually a lot of it is genetics" blah blah blah. But he doesn't have chiselled arms because his body fat is too high, not because he doesn't already have a lot of muscle on them.
  15. You mean like Alek Thomas and Geraldo Perdomo right?
  16. Took some guy I’ve never heard of. Does someone mind messaging next?
  17. Yeah ideally he's also training with those guys' offseason hitting coaches.
  18. Added Derrick White.
  19. lol @ not viewing Turner, Castellanos, and Schwarber as albatross contracts. Realmuto is also incredibly expensive, has a lot of mileage as a catcher and just had his worst year across the board (offensively, defensively and baserunning wise) in his career with 2 more years left to go. A few dingers in the postseason shouldn't make you believe that paying > $60M for less than 4 WAR in the regular season, where you still need wins to make the playoffs, is a worthwhile trade.
  20. Actually I was mistaken. It was FTD who was up before me and I just checked and I did get an email from him, just missed it. That's on me, was busy at night and didn't bother to check before bed.
  21. Yeah I didn’t want to take him but it was too tempting 3 rounds in.
  22. Harsh to Bo who provided 80% of that.
  23. Not that it matters, as I should’ve been checking, but I didn’t get an email or PM or anything. Added Ben Simmons.
  24. It’s me, I got it. FTD is up, will email.
  25. Michael A. Taylor probably had more of an impact with his defense than any other position player Twin not named Royce Lewis. An average CF, or worse, a bad one, and the Blue Jays could easily come away with game 1. Essentially a 2-run, game-saving catch. A guy like him is more likely to make an impact like this than at the plate, but in the playoffs you'll take those runs in any way you can get them. https://streamable.com/m/taylor-flashes-leather-in-game-1
