    I don't think Bennet is doing a particularly bad job. Obviously JJ should get minutes, but Scola is playing terribly.

    This just isn't true, everyone knows who Mike Trout is. FFS he's last year's MVP and in a 1A-1B battle with Donaldson for this year's MVP. People would offer to take turns to babysit the children of whoever pulled that kind of a deal off.

    I thought he had a significant velocity drop and was awful? But now I looked at his stats and he was pretty much around career averages, did he have a very good second half?

    Like mentioned before, he's not liked by Indians' fans because Shapiro couldn't build a perennial contender with a consistent bottom 5-10 payroll. It's just not possible, he's not a miracle worker. He did as much as he could with what he had to work with.

    In what way? They had to look for a replacement president since they knew that Beeston was retiring, so they sought out one of the best 'baseball guys' in the game in Shapiro, a smart and progressive guy with a lot of experience. They also didn't automatically resign AA, which may have caused tensions between the incoming president and his subordinate. They expanded the payroll when AA decided to go all in, putting us around top 10 in that regard. Honestly, I don't see anything there that was handled particularly poorly.

    It doesn't have to be a decision necessarily. Striking out 7.5/9 with a good walk rate and an elite groundball rate is just fine. Just look at Sonny Gray.

    Huh? The message BTS is trying to send out is that the Jays won't be crippling themselves financially by signing guys like Price or Greinke, instead choosing to opt for cheap and effective guys.

    I'm pretty sure they suggest that height is irrelevant when evaluating a pitcher. There is no evidence to suggest that shorter pitchers perform worse, or have worse stamina (the data would probably be skewed anyways since shorter pitchers are typically not given the same opportunities due to this misconception). This is purely a scouting narrative.
