  1. Javier Baez is literally better than Ryan Goins at every facet of the game, but that's not saying much.
  2. I was about to seriously doubt your lineup-making abilities but then I realized that you just listed them by position and not spot in the order lol.
  3. I don't mean to twist your words, but actually I think on paper he's the perfect fit. It is well known that all of the guys you listed have shaky injury histories. In the event of a 15 day DL stint to Travis or JD, I'm much more comfortable seeing Valbuena's name in the lineup card over Goins or Barney (who's great too but he won't hit as well as last season). He provides excellent depth in the scenario where everyone is healthy, with the chance to platoon at 1B or perhaps LF if he's capable while allowing us to play an average player at positions where we're thin if top players go down.
  4. He's been substantially better against RHP so he'd be the strong side of a 1B platoon if necessary. Could also play multiple positions like everyone else has suggested (either giving JD or Travis a day off every now and then or taking over in the event of an extended injury). Also, I don't understand why he projects to be a league average hitter despite being rather comfortably above over the past 3 seasons, where I think it's safe to say is when he started becoming a much better hitter by finally tapping into his power - pulling everything into the air to great results. Despite the lowly projections on his offense, they still view him as an average player and will likely be making less than $10 million per year, as a player that is quite versatile that could be very beneficial to the Blue Jays.
  5. Did you guys see LeBron's flop at halfcourt on what was later ruled a Draymond Green flagrant? Just lol
  6. I'm sure it's not too hard for billion dollar company Rogers to put Shapiro and/or Atkins on a plane to the DR where they could discuss this face to face, not delaying anything.
  7. There's a parallel universe where you're not an idiot troll, but unfortunately we're stuck in this one.
  8. Man can this deal just be made official already? The longer it goes without an announcement being made the more I fear that there was a hiccup along the way and the two sides could not come to an agreement, leaving us with a 20+ page case of blue balls.
  9. Time to ask about the availability of Mookie Betts in BBDL.
  10. What did I just read? Is this a reddit post?
  11. He's also a huge injury risk. The deal could also look terrible in hindsight if he becomes, say like a version of Daniel Hudson.
  12. You couldn't possibly have compared two players more different than R.A. Dickey and Andrew McCutchen.
  13. Are you surprised that the bullpen might have performed worse than normal when an excellent reliever like Cecil went down? You're grasping at straws here bro. It's also pretty apparent from the acquisitions of Grilli, Benoit, Bolsinger etc. that the FO recognizes if there's a problem with the BP and will find a cost effective way to address the issue.
  14. Grilli and Benoit (who was only just okay) were acquired for practically nothing. Chavez who was garbage was traded for Bolsinger. Acquiring decent BP arms is still not that hard, elite relievers are a different ballpark but we have a pretty good one in Osuna.
  15. Furthermore, a "bad" BP didn't hurt us in the ALCS, it was poor performance from our bats largely due to excellent execution on the part of Indians pitchers
  16. That's fine, but then how can you say it's been weak when factoring the context of the team's position entering the offseason? It's not like they've been idle and it appears as though they are aware of the holes, but there's only so much you can do. Say you trade Estrada for Dyson, then we're left with a hole in the rotation; spend a lot of prospect capital on acquiring older and expiring vets and we're back at square one. Sure it might be weak if you expected another Donaldson-esque fleecing, but that's not very realistic. Can you elaborate on why you believe it's been a weak offseason if you agree with their moves to date?
  17. What would you have done differently? The team made what ultimately ended up being Edwin's highest offer, maybe they could have waited for longer and then they might've had a chance, but no one could have predicted what happened and maybe we would have neither EE nor Morales. You can't force Fowler or Reddick to sign here, and for their price with a pick attached it might be for the best not to have them. Chapman or Kenley? Lol at that being a possibility. Beltran came at a hefty price IMO, Holliday was better but we don't know how much he would've wanted to play here, if he even considered Toronto an option. So yeah, what exactly could the front office have done differently to have made this offseason stronger?
  18. Lol the Knicks are hot garbage. The Raptors are having their way with them. I'm pretty sure they didn't score in the third quarter for like 10 minutes.
  19. Wat All of them were born in countries that are part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It's completely legitimate in their case.
  20. Navarro's only supposedly above-average tool, which we can't really quantify, is that he's a good game caller. He sucks at hitting, he's probably the slowest runner in baseball, his blocking is terrible and his framing is abysmal. I guess his throwing arm is okay. He seems like a decent dude, but he is a not a fun MLB player to watch. I will very much welcome a season where our catching depth chart does not include Thole or Navarro. Let's hope Jimenez is passable, but hey they could always rush Reese McGuire though that seems sub-optimal for someone who could actually be a regular in the future.
  21. Ugh, I would really dislike having Navarro back. AJ Jimenez can't really be worse than him, right? His defense should hopefully at least make him replacement level, as opposed to Navarro's. I believe Plawecki is a very good framer so I'd be on board with adding him, but I don't think the Mets will be so quick to give up a former top catching prospect for cheap; he'll only be 26 this year so there's still some room for growth.
  22. Iannetta went from bad pitch framer to nearly elite and then back to awful, if the latter is his true talent level then maybe he's closer to replacement level than a solid backup catcher. Also of note is that his offense fell off a cliff. He's had a weird career path.
  23. Who's replying to the question?
  24. Get back to me when Nogueira can grab a rebound with his two hands or properly box out someone at least 4 inches shorter than him.
