  1. I see people have stopped talking about Dwight "the one that got away" Smith Jr. which was clearly a black stain in Shatkins' tenure. Oh... he has a 90 wRC+ to go along with horrendous defense for -0.3 WAR, huh.
  2. Only one strikeout for Giles, he must be off.
  3. Jansen is hitting rockets all over the place and he's still getting unlucky.
  4. Montoyo doesn't get enough credit for his bullpen usage. Aside from him being forced to use Luciano there's been very few head scratchers when it comes to making a pitching change.
  5. It's games like this where you dream on Drury, three hard hit balls against Chris Sale, solid contact to the opposite field and up the middle.
  6. Nice post-opener start for Waguespack. Looks like the FO listened to you guys, eh Terminator and glory?
  7. I don't mean to be disrespectful, but are you f***ing retarded? At Jansen's age Russell Martin was a 5.5 WAR catcher. He's got 55 career WAR, literally Hall of Fame level. Jansen's potential is not better than a 55 career WAR player, and that's the end of this discussion.
  8. Should have given him the base.
  9. Danny Jansen is scorching.
  10. Bogaerts is having just as good of an offensive year and has historically been the better hitter, and he draws a bunch of walks. You never willingly give up a bases loaded situation to face that guy, the fact that there's a base open means nothing if he's just as likely to drill one into the gap or into the bleachers.
  11. Yes because walking the bases loaded to get to Xander Bogaerts is just a sound strategic decision.
  12. Drury's double had a .810 xBA.
  13. That sucks for Drury, despite getting lucky with Benintendi missing the previous flyball he still had a good AB and drilled that last pitch.
  14. Another immaculate inning in the books.
  15. Hell yeah Danny, keep that s*** going.
  16. Gurriel with another walk, taking some close pitches. Right now if a pitch is thrown to him with any kind of break he's reading that right out of the pitcher's hand.
  17. They probably limited his pitch count so he can start in 3-4 days.
  18. Danny Jansen is really heating up.
  19. He was consistently 94-95 in this one lol. I think his stuff just plays up out of the bullpen whereas as a starter he's more conservative with velocity in order to last longer.
  20. SRF has looked fantastic in this one, he could really have a future as a multi-inning reliever or post-opener starter if being a regular full-time starter doesn't work out. When his command is at least at 75% his stuff is filthy.
  21. And all I'm saying is Montoyo isn't the one that's making the decision to use openers, that comes from the FO for sure. I'm not disagreeing with you either, I feel like the team just doesn't like the bullpen all that much either so it's pretty much s*** vs turd on deciding who to start games with.
  22. You guys are out to lunch if you believe it's Kevin Cash making the calls on using openers in Tampa.
  23. Even if he stupidly advises Sanchez not to take it, no one is signing Aaron Sanchez for an $18M+ AAV or even a big multi-year contract with draft pick compensation/penalty included. So there's no point for us to even offer it because there's a strong chance he'd take it and we'd be paying Sanchez to be a ~2 WAR pitcher when he's barely replacement level.
  24. One guy tweeted yesterday that Kawhi to Lakers was confirmed and they were just working out the details. Except that Kawhi allegedly hadn't even met with the Clippers or Raptors lol. Everyone is throwing a bunch of s*** at the wall and hoping that they get the mystery team right to fluff up their e-cred. Until Kawhi himself, the team or maybe one of the main breaking news reporters (Shams, Woj, Stein) breaks the news no one knows anything and it's all pure speculation.
