  1. This is why all the tanking talk is ********. If the team is among the worst in the league it means our young players are playing like garbage, and they were. Now we have Gurriel having a monster month and a half, Jansen rapidly heating up, Biggio being a plate discipline god, and even Grichuk having a hot couple of weeks. Vlad remains a bit disappointing given the expectations but he's still a league average hitter as a 20 year old so there's plenty to dream on there.
  2. Danny Jansen's offense is slowly catching up to his elite defense, he'll be over 1 WAR by the end of the night despite his wRC+ being 70. Only 4 catchers have provided more defensive value than Jano according to fangraphs which now adds catcher framing to the equation.
  3. Gurriel just missed that.
  4. Galvis is on fire.
  5. I feel like it's more that they just want to have Biggio play second and Drury playing third after a good game so he can focus on hitting.
  6. I see people have stopped talking about Dwight "the one that got away" Smith Jr. which was clearly a black stain in Shatkins' tenure. Oh... he has a 90 wRC+ to go along with horrendous defense for -0.3 WAR, huh.
  7. Only one strikeout for Giles, he must be off.
  8. Jansen is hitting rockets all over the place and he's still getting unlucky.
  9. Montoyo doesn't get enough credit for his bullpen usage. Aside from him being forced to use Luciano there's been very few head scratchers when it comes to making a pitching change.
  10. It's games like this where you dream on Drury, three hard hit balls against Chris Sale, solid contact to the opposite field and up the middle.
  11. Nice post-opener start for Waguespack. Looks like the FO listened to you guys, eh Terminator and glory?
  12. I don't mean to be disrespectful, but are you f***ing retarded? At Jansen's age Russell Martin was a 5.5 WAR catcher. He's got 55 career WAR, literally Hall of Fame level. Jansen's potential is not better than a 55 career WAR player, and that's the end of this discussion.
  13. Should have given him the base.
  14. Danny Jansen is scorching.
  15. Bogaerts is having just as good of an offensive year and has historically been the better hitter, and he draws a bunch of walks. You never willingly give up a bases loaded situation to face that guy, the fact that there's a base open means nothing if he's just as likely to drill one into the gap or into the bleachers.
  16. Yes because walking the bases loaded to get to Xander Bogaerts is just a sound strategic decision.
  17. Drury's double had a .810 xBA.
  18. That sucks for Drury, despite getting lucky with Benintendi missing the previous flyball he still had a good AB and drilled that last pitch.
  19. Another immaculate inning in the books.
  20. Hell yeah Danny, keep that s*** going.
  21. Gurriel with another walk, taking some close pitches. Right now if a pitch is thrown to him with any kind of break he's reading that right out of the pitcher's hand.
  22. They probably limited his pitch count so he can start in 3-4 days.
  23. Danny Jansen is really heating up.
  24. He was consistently 94-95 in this one lol. I think his stuff just plays up out of the bullpen whereas as a starter he's more conservative with velocity in order to last longer.
