  1. Odorizzi accepted his qualifying offer already, I'm pretty sure Toronto's interest in signing him as a free agent has gone down significantly. Can we close this thread please?
  2. I just don't really understand how you don't see the distinction lol. During a game, assuming no one on base and the pitcher not tipping his pitches, the catcher is putting down signs under his crotch, no one but the pitcher is supposed to be seeing that. It's a significant competitive advantage for the hitters to know what every pitch being thrown is, that's why everyone makes a huge deal when a pitcher is tipping pitches because they usually tend to get shelled as a result. There is a big difference between a coach studying game tape to see if the pitcher/catcher have any tells and the use of instantaneous technology to communicate to the dugout and subsequently hitters what pitch is coming next. Half the battle for hitters is guessing which pitch will be thrown next. If you can figure that out because the pitcher lowers his elbow prior to a curve then good for the hitters to pick up on it, and shame on the pitcher. I think there's a line between being clever and straight up cheating in a way which is against the integrity of the game, the competitive chess game between hitter and battery. The Astros, and seemingly any other team employing live technology to relay pitches, are on the wrong side of the line, and I think they should be punished for it.
  3. Our scouting department is incredible. Matt Thomas looks great on the offensive end, Boucher, Davis are hidden gems who continue to make an impact. Can't wait for Dewan Hernandez to show what he's got after some seasoning in the G-League.
  4. FFS, elbow right to the eye where he got poked by Kawhi. What are the odds.
  5. OG looking impressive out there.
  6. Lmao Gasol passing up the open putback layup to OG right behind him. The guy is addicted to passing.
  7. Yeah, and don't even get me started on him attempting to finish with his left hand lol.
  8. Lol @ Norm missing an open layup in transition. He can be insanely frustrating even when he's playing well.
  9. Yeah he dunked once this season. At this point in his career though he's so unathletic and his legs must be so spent that it's probably better that he doesn't try for his own sake.
  10. It's impressive just how bad connorp's and Boxy's teams are this early into the season.
  11. And then he has consecutive brainless plays lol.
  12. Norm is such an enigma. All of a sudden he starts off this game aggressive and making shots.
  13. Yeah I agree with you on all points you made, I'm just not sure Redick is that much of an improvement for our rotation even if we could use the outside shooting, and while Norm's contract is pretty bad I don't think we'd have to tack on to it to get rid of him.
  14. Lol @ the Braves.
  15. Jesus Christ. That guy should lose his voting credentials immediately.
  16. We basically already have a JJ Redick in Matt Thomas, I'm not sure he's worth giving up anything to acquire tbh. He's old and is a leaky faucet on defense.
  17. Should be noted that he had the draft pick attached to him so for the Braves they're probably paying closer to 3/45-50 for him if I had to give a rough estimate. It's probably a fair deal and makes sense for a team like Atlanta which is contending and with a bunch of really good contracts already in the books, although I don't think I would personally pay that much for Will Smith in a vacuum.
  18. Pache is one of the top prospects in baseball and he finally started hitting this year. We're not getting him for Ken Giles.
  19. Not saying this is definitive evidence, but here might be an instance of the Astros using the CF camera to relay the pitches, pretty much as soon as the sign is put down. I don't know, I feel like this is pretty s*****. There's a difference between a team simply picking up a pitcher's movements that may be tipping them off or a guy on base relaying signs and using technology to do so, when it's not allowed.
  20. The rebounding was a big issue and we had a lot of misses at the rim that they usually make, but that's a factor of the back-to-back taking a toll on them. Still played outstanding defense, in a game with at least two of Lowry, Ibaka, OG and McCaw playing we probably end up with the win. Fred and Pascal had to force it a lot at times and they were running out of gas by the fourth quarter. The refs were bad but they weren't the main reason why we lost. It happens, I'll certainly take 1/2 against the LA teams B2B. Also Boucher has been amazing, as have Terrence Davis and Hollis-Jefferson, especially on the defensive end. Matt Thomas clearly doesn't know where he's standing on defense but the guy is a cold shooter.
  21. He was s***. He's having by far his best season to date.
  22. Monster performance from Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Terrence Davis and Chris Boucher. I love that Nurse rode them throughout the second half, their energy on both ends was infectious and the defense was genuinely brilliant. Nice of Pascal to not let his early offensive woes affect his defense. FVV and Norm were immense, especially in the first half when no one else was doing much scoring wise. Huge win.
  23. No lol. A free agent doesn't have a team, Smoak is currently a Blue Jay as much as he is a New York Yankee. Pompey, if he's still on our 40-man roster, would I suppose be the last player that we had on that 2015 currently under the organization.
  24. I'm sure this will be fixed in the future, but it's odd that they think McGuire will have more playing time than Jansen, despite Jansen projected to be the better player lol. Regardless, that catching tandem would be one of the best in the league. The offensive projections on the whole are odd, I would definitely take the over on Biggio and Teoscar - the latter who projects for a wRC+ of 92 despite not dipping below 100 for 3 straight years and being in his prime. I think they're right to be skeptical of Gurriel though I do think he can outperform his projections, along with Bo. Don't really get where they're getting this Tellez love from, or for that matter Drury either.
  25. Norris was the top prospect. Boyd was a high floor 4th/5th starter prospect more than anything, and he's hit that floor and more.
