  1. There's nothing wrong with Flaherty. He's missed a lot of time due to covid related reasons, but his velocity is intact, swinging strikes are identical, and his K/BB ratio is similar if only slightly worse than it was last year. His xFIP (incoming Boxy rant) and by extension xFIP- is actually even slightly better than it was last year. He was always unlikely to come close to repeating his second half performance from last season which had significant batted ball luck, unless he actually got better which is certainly possible given his age and talent level, but unlikely in a season like this one. I don't think Wainwright has actually been their best pitcher (a .228 BABIP in a small sample size will make a lot of pitchers look good) though certainly the most reliable, and I agree he's fun to watch. In his prime he was an ace in a team that consistently went deep into the playoffs.
  2. Try a top 2 pitcher in baseball, and he's not 2.
  3. deGrom got injured his last start and raised his ERA unfortunately, which might take him out of the running if the Mets are careful with him down the stretch. With that said, if he does end up winning a 3rd Cy Young and ages somewhat gracefully he's a lock for the HoF. He needs to not pull a Joan Santana basically. I think if he secures a 3rd Cy Young then he'll be a lock if he passes the 50 WAR mark.
  4. Joe Panik putting in professional ABs even in blowouts.
  5. Despite all of the Yankees homeruns, the top 3 EV in this game have come from Blue Jays hitters.
  6. Yeah I don't disagree, but someone still needs to eat the rest of those innings.
  7. They can throw Pearson in the rotation all they want but he's probably not good for more than 3 innings at a time tops anyway.
  8. I'm not defending Roark because he does suck, but in this situation he gave up a f***ing garbage homerun that isn't out literally anywhere else.
  9. Giles does not look good at all. The stuff is much worse than it's been throughout his Blue Jays tenure.
  10. Basically everything you said is wrong.
  11. Someone like Tyler Glasnow, who has become an ace while on the Rays after being ruined by the Pirates, might disagree with this statement. Glasnow is must watch TV, which is good for the sport, and him being great certainly bodes well for his future earnings.
  12. I don't think comparing a 39 year old Frank Thomas to his 22 year old self is the same as comparing 18/19 year old Vladdy to 21 year old Vladdy lol. The former's hitting ability declining is just a natural product of age based decline. Vlad got fat, beyond reasonable body growth given his age, and his batted ball profile got bad. It's not comparable at all lol. Frank Thomas didn't even get fat, he was just an absolute tank his whole career and obviously at some point his bat speed was gonna decline.
  13. Vlad is 18th percentile in sprint speed but okay. Your counter to that might be, oh he just got fat in quarantine he was much faster last year! 37th percentile.
  14. Are the Mets allergic to shifting? Shaw just hit a ball which 90% of the teams make an easy out on by using a typical lefty pull hitter shift.
  15. There were so many excellent 90s hitters, even ignoring the existence of Barry Bonds, that claiming that Roberto Alomar may have been the best player in the league at any point is such an awful take.
  16. He's a pretty obvious troll/doomer, pay him no attention.
  17. Pay back for the all ******** hits that went against Ryu in the first 4 innings.
  18. Ryu is carving up a good Mets lineup.
  19. Villar was showing bunt again smh. There, see? Bunting is stupid, just hit.
  20. Davis may have been shocked the umpire was actually competent because every pitch he took was outside the strikezone.
  21. Really nice competitive PA from Davis to draw the walk.
