  1. It's mind boggling. He's hit 85 and below several times.
  2. Aroldis Chapman has 16 strikeouts in 6 innings. His new splitter is filthy.
  3. Remember that pitchers are (unfortunately) hitting this year. The actual league SLG excluding pitchers is .398. The league slugging in July of last season was...also .398, smaller sample + long layoff from baseball. In August it rose to .424. League slugging in April of 2019 was .431. 2018 April was .408. Although the ball has been deadened, the weather affects things a lot. I don't think I can recall this many snow days in 2019, and obviously it wasn't a factor at all in 2020.
  4. Ah yes, noted gold glover and defensive wiz Rafael Devers showing Biggio how it's done.
  5. Nothing against Tim Mayza, I like him, but do you really want him facing JD Martinez and Bogaerts as the tying runs with the handedness advantage? This move was fine especially with the off-day tomorrow, smart to play the matchup there when it doesn't cost you anything and Mayza was already at 20 pitches anyway.
  6. Milone just blows 84 past Arroyo.
  7. There's something tantalizing about watching a guy sitting 84 make a very potent lineup look stupid. The Red Sox can't time him at all. The fact that he's racking up the swings and misses is awesome.
  8. Semien just totally punked Garrett Richards after all the pickoff attempts.
  9. Not that far, 380 feet. It had an absurd 40 degree launch angle though.
  10. The gold gloves last season were purely stats based.
  11. Gurriel's reads have never been particularly good but that one was just embarrassing.
  12. I don't know about top 3 but as a trio itself Ohtani-Trout-Rendon is pretty ridiculous.
  13. Garbage park saves us that time.
  14. By RoS projections (Springer's has somehow dropped by 10 points from pre-season despite him just being out a month?) Vlad 131 wRC+ > JD Martinez 121 wRC+: would take the over on JDM but Vlad can also surpass his Bo 110 wRC+ < Bogaerts 116 wRC+: would easily take the over on both guys, Bogaerts seems to consistently outperform his xwOBA significantly so maybe this is why the projections don't buy into him Springer 118 <= Devers 119 wRC+: Springer's pre-season projections were 128 wRC+, what gives? Biggio 100 wRC+ < Verdugo 107 wRC+: for what it's worth Rowdy, Semien and Kirk all project better than Biggio around roughly 104 wRc+ each It's pretty much tied, Boston might have a slight lead with Springer's projections down a significant amount inexplicably.
  15. It's not. Bryce Harper was correcting the guy who pronounced it like that. Acuña, as close to phonetically possible in English, is pronounced "ah-coo-nyah". The ñ is "n-yah" more or less.
  16. Time for a double steal, they'll never see it coming.
  17. Why did Tellez even take so long to throw? It was obvious Dyson was going home.
  18. Tommy Milone just tied the number of swings and misses of Zeuch's last start in 7 pitches.
  19. Quick summary of how f***ing nuts this game was. 12th inning.
