  1. It's the strategy that's really doing it for me.
  2. If he wanted to groove a fastball down the middle he would have done so with 2 strikes, sometimes the pitcher gets psyched out when the guy at the plate has no intention of swinging. It's not a good enough reason for that garbage of a call.
  3. Pitchers hitting and a horrendous strike call, the perfect storm of awfulness.
  4. Would you prefer he takes sliders down the middle in a key spot in the game?
  5. Nice to see two blown calls early in the game.
  6. To be fair I don't think anyone in front office capacity wouldn't prefer guys that hit the ball hard. When the Angels extended David Fletcher it wasn't because they love how he hits really soft lobs over first base, but his elite defense and versatility + bat control. Grichuk hit the ball hard and was a decent defender in the OF with the ability to play CF when they traded for him, so obviously that's what they're going to praise about him. All else being equal teams and most fans would always take the guy who hits the ball hard over speed-first or glove-first slap hitters who provide (what we think is) the same value.
  7. I just love pitchers hitting. The absolute strategy of it all.
  8. lol at this throw https://mlb-cuts-diamond.mlb.com/FORGE/2021/2021-05/10/20ce82b5-6cb0ea05-b2861a22-csvm-diamondx64-asset_1280x720_59_4000K.mp4 I feel bad for Khris Davis honestly. 70-80 grade power in his prime (not anymore) with a 20 arm. This throw is cartoonishly bad, it's the kind of throw you make in your dreams. I think he's had the yips in the outfield with his throwing for years now.
  9. Two years too late, that's how soon.
  10. Altuve gets to that ball anyway and with Gurriel having to get out of the way they might even have had a chance to turn 2 with Tellez running.
  11. That's a textbook relay, beautiful play. Definitely helped that Maldonado was running in quicksand.
  12. Trevor Rosenthal two years ago came pretty close.
  13. Sorry I must have missed the 8 runs we scored yesterday and having scored 4 through 5 innings today. Or did the 9 and 10 run games in Oakland not happen either?
  14. Max Scherzer sets the new Yankee Stadium record with 14 strikeouts, achieved in 7 innings. He'll be coming back out for the 8th. Where's that guy that said he was done after one poor outing?
  15. Why? Sergio Romo is one of the nicest guys in the league. I'm glad we hit him around of course.
  16. My bad, I'm not paying attention at all to the commentary, luckily for me.
  17. Who else would you rather close out the game? We've been using a ton of relievers and Phelps just died.
  18. Throw f***ing strikes Borucki, it's a 5 run game.
  19. At first I thought that was gonna drop in front of the outfielder off the bat, then later I thought f*** it's gonna be right at him, but the ball just kept sailing. Absolutely crushed.
