  1. 3B/Corner OF, but I think Detroit moved him there because of Cabrera, which brings his value down a little. But again, a bunch of relievers isn't netting the team's best prospect, not even close.
  2. You realize that Janssen was a failed starter right, Cecil too. Just about anyone can replace those guys, maybe Romero ends up completely flaming out as a starter and becomes a good reliever, it really IS that easy to get a decent reliever, and as already pointed out, they are very unpredictable, look at Rodney, Jim Johnson this year.
  3. Brb trading Buxton for Janssen, Delabar, Cecil + Pillar, the Twins need pitchers right?
  4. Yeah, but I don't see Detroit trading their one good prospect for a bunch of relievers, has he been sucking this year? This only maybe/sometimes works when players are at their lowest perceived value (Ex. Colby Rasmus whose situation was worse since the manager drove him away from the team).
  5. This, team GM's aren't idiots, no one trades their top prospects for relievers, unless those relievers are Aroldis Chapman or maybe Kimbrel.
  6. I too think this has something to do with it. Most top pitching prospects these days are highly touted because of their K rates in the minors, a lot of those times you'll see their repertoire is a good mid to high 90's fastball, a second out pitch, and then depending on how advanced probably a 3rd fringe pitch which they have to develop more. Same with kids that are being drafted, most first round pitchers can already touch mid 90's with some going above.
  7. From what I've heard Detroit's system is pretty terrible, so I don't think that's the best team to get a decent prospect out of, and they are definitely not trading their top prospect for a bunch of relievers.
  8. Can it be lifetime ban, and Yanks pay the money to a whole bunch of charities? That way everyone gets f***ed and it's for a good cause.
  9. No Soler in that lineup? According to one of the prospect lists (KLaw I think) a lot of Cubs' prospects don't exactly take many walks to say the least.
  10. Lol at Gameday: Scout: "Josh Johnson showed faith in J.P. Arencibia by throwing a slider in the dirt with a runner on 3rd" In other words, Josh Johnson lost his mind.
  11. Rasmus' is so predictable. Of course it's country.
  12. I don't really agree with tanking, this isn't the NBA where a top 5 pick can immediately come in and be an impact player, the closest being Strasburg or Harper types of players that are ready to come up to the bigs in less than a year, plus let's face it we're not even bad enough to make it to top 5. Can you still lose your pick by signing a type A FA unless your pick is in the top 10? If anything that's the only thing I might worry about being that there will be some good FA choices out there this year.
  13. It's a shame, I was going to post JP as a joke yesterday... Rasmus for me today.
  14. A computer can't calculate PRODUKSHUN bro! But seriously if it's not too much trouble mind recapping the main ideas for someone with slow internet?
  15. Isn't this an amazing deal for the Astros? Or has he been struggling really bad or getting injured a lot? If this is last year's Altuve then it's a freaking steal.
  16. Yeah it is unfortunate but looking like it. I also agree about the Dodgers deal being really helpful to their payroll flexibility so kudos to him on that.
  17. I wasn't questioning that part, you do realize that Yunel doesn't live in Cuba? Or for that matter has to request a bunch of permits just to visit.
  18. True, but although managers do play somewhat of a role they have a good core like it was already mentioned, in my personal opinion I never like trading a manager for a player since you can just sign the manager and keep the player, I might understand just giving up some random never-will-make-it player but to give away a utility man like Aviles might be too much IMO.
  19. Cherington has had a fair share of questionable moves though. Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't trades like the Lowrie and Reddick ones considered pretty bad? Also there's the fact that he traded a decent utility guy for a manager.
  20. This guy's not a winner; sub .500 record are you serious? Proven winners win championships.
  21. I agree, I was being a bit extreme there, I just hope he doesn't become the next Verlander so the trade doesn't always come back to remind us of what a bad deal it was.
