No, but given the Revere trade, Pennington acquisition (something hinted at byAA during the DFA process) and EE/Cola split at DH, his playing time would only decrease over the next two months. If there were already issues regarding his PT it would only get worse. Furthermore, we don't know what goes on in the clubhouse, so the posters not buying the clubhouse reason don't need to buy it, they just need to understand it is a possibility (not you BigCecil, just in general).
Either way, I think optioning Loup was the better choice; even if it was only for a week before Pennington arrived. I like the idea of giving JD some bench days or having a serviceable backup at third (with a bat) that doesn't currently occupy a starting spot in the top 9.
