  1. Definitely better to move Reyes and Jose seperately. As you said too much money to get good value back.
  2. Long post. Never going to happen.
  3. He's a 30yo AAAA guy, not really surprising at all.
  4. Just the alcohol. That one was embarassing haha
  5. I'm sure he's thinking, when I improve again next season I'll get more than BJ Upton.
  6. I think he is going to be suspended for multiple seasons and made an example of. Don't appeal PED suspensions and definitely don't f*** with Bug Selig
  7. He's going to make ~$7M next season. He's pretty secure financially. I don't he goes that team friendly as he finally is getting close to free agency.
  8. Honestly why would Rasmus s sign that contract?
  9. Try 4 years $48M. No way he signs for $7M per on a long term deal.
  10. I don't consider Hutch crap -- he's going to provide lots of innings for cheap and the Cubs desperately need that as theyc ontinue to rebuild. Obviously the other pieces would have to be more exciting than if Sanchez or Stroman were included but, something might be able to be put together. IMO something like Hutch + Gose would be very inticing to the Cubs. I would also float out Rasmus for Samardzija and Castro as a trade that makes a lot of sense for both teams.
  11. That's just an arbitrary list. The majority of contending rotations would not fit that mould and the Jays are trying to contend. Let's not pretend that Samardzija as your 2nd best pitcher would be nothing less than underwhelming going in to any "window of contention" season.
  12. IMO Sanchez/Stroman shouldn't have to be included in any Samardzija package. Stroman might be a mid-rotation guy as soon as next season -- To move Sanchez I'd want a true #1 guy back. It would have to be Hutch or Rogers/Redmond/Happ (which I don't think gets it done) plus a couple top 15 guys or there really isn't a deal to make.
  13. AA is buying high on the type of players he should be trying to sell.
  14. He's a 3/4 IMO as well, if only to avoid the "front of the rotation guy" label. Kind of like how Shaun Marcum was a #2 on the Jays but best used as a 3/4. On a side note if I were AA I'd try to add Starlin Castro to any Samardzija package.
  15. And +30M in payroll to use as needed
  16. I'd move Bautista for Hultzen + Zunino, just saying. Outlandish trade proposal of the day; To TOR Zunino + Ackley + Hultzen To SEA Bautista + JPA + Pillar
  17. He's intimidating when he's throwing up and in. He looks bigger than 6'4" in that video.
  18. How?? The hair...
  19. Agreed, however, we should give Boras more credit. He is a scumbag but he is also a professional. He's probably pissed with the Jays and specifically Beeston but I doubt he'd let it get in the way of doing business and what's best for his clients.
  20. Cementing Jose's exit and Choo's arrival. Interesting tidbit here; "Asked if he believes the Blue Jays may have intentionally turned away from his clients as a result of the failed Paxton negotiation, he said: “I’ve had constant communication with both Paul (Beeston) and AA (Alex Anthopoulos) throughout. It’s not anything to do with not talking, maybe just not the right fits.”" -- Scott Boras Probably still haven't smoothed everything over but I guess Boras has maintained a stronger working relationship with the Jays than we suspected.
  21. Players to have an +8 fWAR over the last 5 years 2013 Trout - 10.4 WAR 2012 Trout - 10.0 WAR 2011 Ellsbury - 9.1 WAR Kemp - 8.4 WAR 2010 Hamilton - 8.4 WAR 2009 Pujols - 8.7 WAR Zobrist 8.5 WAR Utley - 8.0 WAR 2008 Pujols - 8.6 WAR Utley - 8.0 WAR 2007 AROD - 9.6 WAR Wright - 8.4 WAR Magglio Ordonez - 8.0 WAR 2006 Pujols - 8.2 WAR 2005 AROD - 8.8 WAR Pujols, Utley, Magglio, AROD, and Hamilton all had sharp declines, it's conceivable that Kemp could too.
  22. I don't think that's what he meant at all. Gibbons would never call a player out for his attitude in the media. It was definitely in reference to his historically bad play and the media buzz that JPA will be replaced.
  23. Why don't you go ahead and report yourself for being fabulous while you're at it.
  24. My outlandish off-season plan of the day; -- PART 1 -- 3 Team trade; To TOR; Troy Tulowitzki + Lance Lynn To COL; Stroman + Hutchison + Kolten Wong To STL; Bautista -- PART 2 -- To TOR; Mike Stanton To CIN; Rasmus + Janssen + Cecil To MIA: Billy Hamilton + Tony Cingrani + Sanchez + Drabek/McGowan + Tirado (feels light, Jays don't have much else) -- PART 3 -- Sign Ruiz Fill the BP Sign Tanaka. -- RESULT -- C - Ruiz 1B - Edwin 2B - Reyes 3B - Lawrie SS - Tulo LF - Melky CF - Gose RF - Stanton DH - Lind SP 1 - Dickey SP 2 - Buehrle SP 3 - Lynn SP 4 - Morrow SP 5 - Tanaka BP 1 - Delabar BP 2 - Santos BN 3 - Drabek/McGowan BP 3 - Lincoln BP 4 - Happ BP 5 - Rogers BP 6 - Redmond BP 7 - Perez/Wagner/Loup BN 1 - DeRosa BN 2 - Izturis BN 3 - JPA/Thole/FA BN 4 - Sierra/Pillar
