  1. He's a great athlete and has the speed to play CF and steal +20 bases. I don't think range would be an issue and his reflexes definitely wouldn't be (great hands and coordination). Obviously there is a risk he doesn't have the necessary first step. I really don't see it though.
  2. Mostly speculation but he's taken reps there in the past (I believe it was extended spring last season) but more so it's a reflection of his skillset. Great hands and his bat plays better up the middle. I've always thought he looked more like an infielder and would love to see him shift and provide the Jays some needed talent at the 4 spot.
  3. What is your benchmark here? His numbers show he has a shot to be a decent backend pitcher. Nothing wrong with that.
  4. He's not Buehrle but no one is. He throws it much harder. Needs to mix speeds better and disrupt hitters' timing. He also had decent k rates in the minors so the original premise is flawed.
  5. His first 100 PAs of pro ball and he's OPSing .800, no need to over react.
  6. I wouldn't touch Manaea, not a fan at all but besides the point. If you can get Zimmer + Mondesi for Edwin I think AA should make it happen. Obviously, Jose + other moves would need to happen if they were moving Edwin. I actually don't know if AA could do anything to annoy me more than just moving Edwin and playing out the rest of the year.
  7. I don't know if it's tunnel vision, I'm open to suggestions. I just thought that the Royals might want to be buyers this year and I like Zimmer.
  8. Absolutely, you need to have 8-10 arms in the mix and supplement with FA. The Jays have Hutch, Stroman, Norris, Osuna, Nolin, Sanchez, and Hoffman. They'd need to add a few more arms and hope that they have good health.
  9. For KC to move Zimmer on his own. There is absolutely no incentive to move Zimmer unless you give them a clear shot at the WC. Edwin alone doesn't get them there.
  10. They have some pitching on the cusp that should be ready in 2-3 years; Hoffman, Norris, Osuna, Sanchez. If two of those guys pan out they'll be sitting pretty good with young arms. They'd still need to completely fill the rest of the diamond though! If you can nab an elite bat I think the Jays have to jump at the chance.
  11. That's kind of the point. They've already blown the 3 playoffs in 5yrs and aren't anywhere near contending. Might be time to shift the window and move your assets to be competitive 2-3 years down the road.
  12. Am I the only one still on the Bubba Starling bandwagon? I think he'll be alright, 5-6 years away though...
  13. I was really just trying to come up with a way to land Zimmer for Edwin. I'm not sure he would be enough alone. I was thinking that Janssen + Morrow might tip the scales enough to get KC to pull the trigger. My ultimate goal would be to land as many elite prospects as possible, an undisputed top 25 prospect kind of guy. IMO The Jays already have enough depth throughout the system, they should be building packages to acquire these longterm stars. If you can get a true blue chipper for Edwin on his own then it would definitely be prudent to ship him solo. Move Janssen + Morrow in a package to get someone else's top guy.
  14. And still 3-4 pieces away from a contender. Who'd win in something like this? Edwin + Janssen + Morrow (provided he returns before the deadline and plays well) to the Royals for Zimmer + Starling + Mondesi Edit: I'd also prefer Alcantra in the deals you proposed. I just have a feeling he's going to be really good.
  15. I'd definitely ship out Jose, Edwin and Buehrle before the deadline. I'd also look to move all of the 1yr contract guys (or players with options) like Janssen, Lind Rasmus, Happ and Melky. I;d look to move Dickey and Reyes but I'd want value back. They'd probably be easier to move in the off-season so I'd probably finish the year with them in the rotation. Morrow is a bit of a wild card for me, if he pitches well I probably move him as well. Was looking for some fantasy trades/rosters as well if you want to take it to the next level!
  16. There are two things that I would point in rebuttal to this point; Who is the authority that says Sanchez's mechanics will lead to injury and is that authority reputable? Historically, we can look at Sanchez's mechanics and know that they make it more difficult to keep the ball down in the zone and that they are bad for maximizing velocity. However, we do not know how they will impact his long term health. Show me a scientific journal or some evidence that Sanchez's delivery heightens the risk of injury and I'd be all ears. Secondly, all pitchers get injured. It's just a matter of when not if and you can't predict who's going to go down first.
  17. Theoretically, it's July 31st and the Jays are +15 games out of it. Beeston comes in to your office and says AA has been fired and that you are being promoted to GM. There are going to be some changes for next season. Firstly, payroll is too high; Rogers needs it below $100M before the start of the 2015 season. Secondly, Rogers needs you to field a contender within 3 seasons. Everything else is up to you. How do you get it done?
  18. IMO it'd cost Stroman + Norris and another B/B+ prospect (eg Pompey, Tirado, Osuna)
  19. Why not just pick up Hamels with Utley for the same package then? Price's last year of cheap production is jacking the cost to acquire him up.
  20. Need repetitions. You can command a ball with bad mechanics and enough practice.
  21. That's not true, bad mechanics can lead to injuries. Unorthodox mechanics = less certainty/more risk. Doesn't have to be a death sentence. There are no red flags in Sanchez's delivery. ie) inverted w
  22. My apologies, I don't understand the expression. I think I understand the jist of it though please correct me if I'm off base in my response. He commands his CB in the zone very well already. He has two issues right now, keeping the ball from running out of the zone and keeping the ball down consistently. He can improve both of those issues simply with repetition. He's never going to be an elite command guy but he doesn't have to be.
  23. 4th OF potential, nothing to really get excited about at this point.
  24. Clearly do not know what you are talking about. Give it a rest.
  25. He could definitely improve but let me ask you something; if he can throw it 99mph with nasty movement in the bottom of the zone and filthy secondaries who gives a s*** about nit-picking his delivery?
