It's a shame they didn't get better starting pitching in the championship series as you said 4 ina row would've been really cool. I am looking forward to 2015 and think they'll have a decent shot to win it again, at the very least they should have another decent rotation!
Van City lost the NWL championship last night losing the second game of the series 4-3 to Hillsboro. Smoral started the night wild and Hillsboro was able to capitalize.
Bautista at this point in his career is obviously not a HoF candidate. Longevity and consistency is what gets you there and Bautista only really got to an elite level when he was 29yo.
AA thinks Jose can be productive in to his 40's because of athleticism and dedication to taking care of his body. At some point he'll move to the infield and man 1B. If Bautista can produce in to his late 30's he may even still have a shot at the hall, it will take overall great health and a few monster seasons.end his career with +400HR.
I think the Jays can offer him a chance to start. I don't think they'd pick up his option at $10M and I don't think he'd get that on the open market either. I think $7-8$M, like Happ, to be the 5th SP is reasonable and I'm sure Morrow knows that he wont be getting $10M in FA.
IMO they'll start Sanchez out of the BP and Morrow out of the rotation (probably a reduced deal). If Morrow flounders/gets hurt they'll move Sanchez in. Similar to what they did with Stroman this year.
If he keeps steady through September you'd have to think he is the front runner for the 5 for the 5 spot. Buehrle should be gone to make room and clear payroll. Pay $5M or whatever you need to get a good prospect back.
Sure, because it's a common problem especially amongst young pitchers. If you've watched Sanchez pitch you know he wont throw the breaking stuff until he is ahead in the count and that if he is ina FB count you are getting the heater. He needs to mix his pitches better but he's still figuring things out. I have full confidence that he will improve especially if he can refine anotehr off-speed pitch or get ahead in the count consistently.
Be less predictable. He gets in to patterns and it's easy for hitters to guess when the off speed stuff is coming. Working in the zone more often would also help.
I think his K rate will climb but not for the reasons outlined. From my observations it's clear that Sanchez has the stuff to induce swing and misses but he is still learning how to do it consistently. I think he's still figuring things out and will learn to miss more bats.
Id like to see him force his way up next year. Gose and Pillar could both start the year in AAA as well if he really impresses in September and has a good camp
Being a lefty helps Buehrle in that regard too! Still Graveman has a decent FB, definitely MLB quality and heavy sink. He's not a lock to be a MlBer but I see his floor as a swingman.
He's successful because he gets a lot of GBs and his FB has heavy sink. The velo certainly helps. if you want a successful softosser with low K rates just look at Buehrle. If Graveman can keep up the GB rates he has a shot to be a serviceable backend starter. Definitely a legit prospect.
