  1. To be fair Murphy is s*** defensively.
  2. I wouldn't make that deal for Samardzija but I'd add a piece or two if they included Starlin Castro. Something like Sanchez + Norris + Pompey + Nolin + Deck for Samardzija + Castro.
  3. I wouldn't call it babying just different stages of development. I think we'd all be shocked if Sanchez wasn't in the majors in some capacity within 14months.
  4. I knew about the past injuries but didn't realize he had already missed some time this year. Very likely it's soreness/an injury then but I'm hoping he just needs some rest or they are holding him back because of an innings limit.
  5. There were some signs in JF's start. Only went 5 innings, huge velo dip at ~45 pitches and he left the game with elbow soreness. I'm not saying that Cashner isn't hurt, just that there are no obvious signs at the moment.
  6. He went 7 innings on the 18th and he held his velo quite well. Unless I missed him leaving the game or having soreness it seems like an injury would be completely out of left field.
  7. He was suggesting cutting ~$17M in salary which would theoretically cover it except for some salary increases across the roster. The biggest difference is the backloaded deals originally signed by MIA reach their full payout (Reyes $22M, Buehrle $20M) next season, The Jays will be paying $7M more for those two players than in 2014.
  8. I'd rather try to move Rasmus for some pitching this season. Although there is no chance I'd let him walk without offering the QO offer. The guy/team I'd try to target is Jon Niese/the NYM. They desperately need another OF'er and have an abundance of pitching. It would take resigning Rasmus and some pitching going the other way as well I would imagine.
  9. Why is Kalfus repeating the level even.... Should have been promoted.
  10. Rather target Hamels or Lee. Both should cost less than Price and would be equally if not more effective.
  11. $63M prorated! Not my money! Haha
  12. The Phillies blockbuster I'd truly love to see is Lee + Hamels + Utley. I imagine it would take a pillaging of the farm though. A Sanchez + Norris + Barreto ++ kind of thing
  13. Masterson, Shields and Iwakuma are the AL pitchers I'd be targetting. Iwakuma's and Masterson's GB ability would fit well in the RC and all 3 are damn good.
  14. Doesn't have the same all out style that Lawrie does. Reminds me a little bit of Molitor.
  15. Compact line drive swing that will make a lot of contact. He should be able to use the whole field and go gap-to-gap consistently. With average defence you're talking a 3-5 WAR player at a premium position, that's decent upside when picking at #11.
  16. He's 6'2" 190lbs where in gods name does the Yadier (who is 5'11" 220+ lbs) body comp come from? Using SirBJay's report his lowest rated tool, power (45) is often developed later in a career. His next two tools up the list are run and fielding. A 50 run grade for a catcher is quite good and is somewhat of an indicator of plus athleticism for the position. Although, you want to see plus defense behind the plate if you can play average defence and hit you're going to be a valuable player in the MLB. I also don't really care what a scout has to say about a catcher's defence when they are 3-4 yrs away from the majors, that's something that will depend on the Jays ability to develop him and highly unpredictable.
  17. Far more likely to move Rasmus than EE.
  18. You don't trade elite hitting for pitching, ever. Especially since Price would be likely to walk as a UFA. I'd need the insurance of a top prospect otherwise it is not worthwhile.
  19. Wow talent wise I make that deal. I don't think the Jays can resign both of it were to happen though so I probably keep Edwin.
  20. Id want Price and Myers for Edwin and I still might not make that deal.
  21. Mccarthy would be a decent addition. I wonder if Aaron Hill or Prado could also be included.
  22. And that was just Sportsnet hurl, the Jays made money on top of that, the Dome made money and Rogers saved money on content and taxes by owning the Jays. Plus that doesn't include all of the people that had to expand their cable pack to pick up Sportsnet1 (I can't be the only one). Lets not kid ourselves Rogers makes money hand over fist off the Jays. Payroll could be significantly higher and they could be still be way in the black.
  23. Not the Jays but Rogers off the Jays and Jays' content, yes. I think they make that and more.
  24. If they go under slot it needs to be on the 2nd rounder. If they are picking that high they need to swipe the kind of elite talent that is only available when you are picking towards the top. Plus the Jays have two ping pong balls this year so don't freaking miss.
  25. And a very profitable business at that. Let's not pretend that Rogers couldn't double payroll and still not turn a profit.
