  1. Biggest difference is that Travis hasn't had to make adjustments at the MLB level. He isn't going to have a steady performance in his rookie season and who knows how he'll perform when MLB pitchers adjust. Lawrie tends to start slow and then heat up for the 2nd half and he is following that trend again this year. Sure his BABIP is high and you can expect big-time regression there but he's making hard contact at an above average rate and hitting the ball on a line. All signs point to a strong 2nd half for Lawrie if he can stay on the field where as Devo is a giant question mark with mediocre defence.
  2. I just think it's funny that if someone suggested Travis for Lawrie 5 months ago they'd have been ridiculed but now that Lawrie had a bad start and Devo a hot one they've completely flip flopped. TheHurl pretty much nailed it but Lawrie isn't getting his due in this thread.
  3. I picked the number of games to equal Travis PA's from 2015. Not really random at all. If I wanted to cherry pick I would've made it smaller as Lawrie's been on a n absolute tear.
  4. Lawrie gets off to a slow start and you're all jumping off the bandwagon? He's been on fire lately and would be an absolute terror on this team with his balls to the wall play style. 5. In a heartbeat, Lawrie is the man
  6. They look in to signability every draft and every draft they don't sign people. It's not a guarantee and it's past the point in the draft where they are passing on big talent.
  7. You can spend money you save you can't spend money you don't have. That's reason enough.
  8. They have an idea of what they will sign for but they have no budget this year and they went after two HS pitchers with a lot of leverage. It would be prudent to make sure they have some extra $ just in case they need it.
  9. They've done well there in the past and do you want to lose a higher pick over a small amount like $500k?
  10. Be a good spot to save $100k-200k, I didn't mean $10k but I wouldn't be shocked if it happened.
  11. They'll all get around slot but the Jays have zero wiggle room this year and they like to go after high upside guys in the later rounds that they will need $ for.
  12. I think they'll need some money for the top 3 picks and then as you said they've always targeted overslot guys for round 11+ guys. If they want some money for that they'll need to start grabbing underslot guys earlier this year.
  13. Typed that before the pick! Liking what AA and co have done so far.
  14. He hasn't signed yet, he'd have no idea where he's going to be placed.
  15. I'm fine with going after pitchers as long as they keep signing high upside international bats. Hoping they break the cap after signing Vlady and land a couple more big bats.
  16. 4 starts, 28 IP, 17 SO, 8 BB, 9 R, 8 ER, 26 H, 1.2 WHIP, 2.57 ERA, 3.70 xFIP, 4.65 FIP, .275 BABIP
  17. Boyd's FB sits a little higher but Nolin can and has hit 95mph as well
  18. What is Boyd's plus pitch? His FB? I don't think it's any better than Nolins' but I really liked Nolin's changeup and pitch mix. Seemed like he'd be able to get K's at the MLB level; haven't seen enough of Boyd this year to have a strong opinion one way or another but form the reports it seems as if he isn't going to miss very many bats. With all that being said I think Boyd is the better prospect and at this point far more likely to have an MLB career just based on the FB command alone.
