  1. I could see the Cubs finally moving Starlin Castro but I'm not sure I'd want him at this point
  2. Definitely enticing but still a piece or two short from the playoffs IMO. I;d be pushing really hard for one of Ross or Cashner to as well to actually pull the trigger. Otherwise hang on to the young guys, sign your own FA's and see what happens.
  3. Reyes has a bad contract, he's still a useful player. There are two easy ways to make up the gap in value; send/take money or send prospects.

  5. I think Reyes still has value, he's on a bad deal but either money or prospects can close the gap.
  6. The Marlins trade didn't work out that poorly for the Jays. JJ got hurt and Bonifacio is terrible but otherwise Buehrle, Buck and Reyes have been as expected. AA knew he was sacrificing some future value to get players that could make an immediate impact. The Dickey trade was just bad.
  7. No but he did average an 80 wRC+ while playing subpar OF defense. 0.4 fWAR cumulative over 3 seasons with the Angels. Reyes isn't very good but he is still better than Amarista.
  8. Someone traded for Vernon Wells.
  9. Something massive.. Might be interested in Reyes though which could off-set some of the specs going the other way. Edit: Why not include a package for kicks; Hoffman + Sanchez + Castro + Reyes + Tellez + Boyd
  10. Ross/Cashner + Shields + Kimbrel would be an interesting package for the Jays. A huge win-now move that would come at a massive cost but quite possibly put them over the hump. Curious to know what it would take to make it happen.
  11. I can't justify SRF or Hollon for a rental, it's a shame they already moved DeJong he seems like a good fit. Maybe Jairo Labourt could work. On the higher end of the spectrum Matt Boyd (really don't like his stuff at the MLB level but the #'s are pretty good) + Navarro might work.
  12. That was me but I listened to the arguments others were saying and agreed. Dickey doesn't make sense but some form of Navarro + does.
  13. I never said they would...
  14. Where did anyone say that? I said Kuma for Navarro + comp pick value would make sense.
  15. He's a 34yo rental coming off a lat injury, I really don't think it should take a premium asset.
  16. It's not about contending, it's about getting Zunino back on track in AAA and the offense going so that you can carry some momentum in to 2016. This year is basically done for them and with the youth they have in the system IMO Iwakuma is as good as gone in the off-season. Your argument stems from 100PA of Navarro this year, small sample size and all that. I don't suspect he'll be this bad the rest of the way. Needs to be moved somewhere to play C either way though. IMO it'd make sense for the Mariners to make a deal for Iwakuma as I don't think he is in their long term plans. Navarro + the value of the comp pick (whatever you think that is) makes sense.
  17. That's true and you know what my bad. I should've given you a better response. Navarro is a far better all around player than Zunino at this point. Zunino is more valuable because he's 24yo and has 3 yrs of control left but one has nothing to do with the other. They need to upgrade Zunino, he should be in AAA but they have no one to replace him. Trading for a short term catcher makes sense for them bc they need immediate help and Zunino is young and a high draft pick that will hopefully put it together over the next couple seasons.
  18. Asking you to make a logical argument is ad hominem? If you want to discuss anything I've posted I'm all for it but I'm not going to argue strawmen or ad hominem with you.
  19. You're busting out all the classics I see, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem.
  20. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man Nuff said.
  21. Put down the crack and walk away
  22. 36 K% (worst in MLB), .223 OBP (last in MLB), .515 OPS (last in MLB), 16.3 SwgStr% (5th last in MLB), 45 wRC+ (2nd last in MLB), . It's all well and he is a decent framer but he's quite possibly the least valuable hitter in MLB. I don't care how good you are defensively (and Zunino is just a touch above average) if Ryan Goins and John MacDonald are better hitters than you, you don't deserve MLB at bats.
