  1. If Carlos Martinez is traded I'll eat a hat. Makes zero sense for any organization to move a pitcher like that for a yr and a half of a non-AS caliber player whose over 30 and performing well below expectations.
  2. Carlos Martinez is very little? That's a HUGE cost. It's like giving up Stroman for Edwin and I wouldn't do that deal either. Sure but they also could keep CMart and move another guy still have good pitching, still have a good offense and still compete for a WS. No need to move him or Wacha.
  3. I've just never been a big Bruce fan and the difference bwtween him and Saunders/Pompey RoS is likely less than 0.5 win. just don't want to give up assets for that when there are cheaper alternatives. I also think Pompey put up more run value than Bruce over the next 3 seasons. Don't really want to block him with a big $ guy they'll feel obligated to play like Bruce.
  4. That's the point though, CMart is extremely valuable and they have a couple older guys that will get them something good. If he's healthy Garcia would get them a useful short term asset. Needs to get healthy before anyone would take him though.
  5. Cingrani doesn't suck he's mediocre with quite a bit of upside if he can figure out his control issues. IMO Bruce is the least interesting piece, rather save the assets and ~$12M of budget. The Jays really just need a stopgap until Saunders can get back and Pompey can be that guy.
  6. They have Jaime Garcia, Wainwright and Lynn that will bring back a slugger if they really want. Just can't see them moving one of the best young pitchers in the game for a 32yo w/ 1.5yrs of control left.
  7. I don't see why the Cards would trade CMart for Edwin.
  8. I blame John Farrell if he didn't force his way out we wouldn't have had to flip Aviles
  9. It's hard b/c Leake and Cueto are both going to get QO's. Need to beat out the comp pick. IMO Sanchez/Norris/Hoffman + Boyd is better than the two comp picks, so then you'd have to add for Cingrani and Bruce...
  10. I like the return but hate the idea of giving up Stro. I'd offer Sanchez and specs and see if they bite.
  11. Fangraphs article - One way for the Jays to go for it http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/one-way-for-the-blue-jays-to-go-for-it/ TLDR; The Reds are trying to compete in 2016 and want to move rentals. Don't want prospects back, want guys that can contribute. oesn't think a Chapman + Cueto package makes sense for the Reds to deal. Proposes Cueto + Leake + Cingrani for Stroman
  12. Only because they'd be getting a guy like Hamels, I'd gladly keep him.
  13. The baseball name adds trade value, DJ Davis is just too bland
  14. Pretty sure that guy is just going to be disappointed when they get Castro + Sanchez + Tellez
  15. True, I was thinking two people for whatever reason.
  16. Parking is going to be $30 minimum; that's the Go tickets right there. Coming from Barrie it's going to take 2-3hrs to get downtown w/ the games going on. Add in gas and time and it's definitely worth it. Generally, I come in from the other side of the Lake Simcoe and park at Finch then take the subway down. Super cheap and you miss most of the craziness.
  17. Take public transit, not worth the aggravation of driving in.
  18. Except Castillo was the backup plan when they couldn't land Dioner.
  19. Arizona wanted him; http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/gm-diamondbacks-targeted-blue-jays-navarro/
  20. Could say the same thing about Chris Sale
  21. Hmm, interesting; free up $17M adn gamble on Rollins (who I think would hit with this lineup). Few buy-low options set to be FA's in the off-season as well so you can more than likely replace Reyes. I could get behind that.
  22. What's the full gameplan in this scenario, trade Reyes + pitchers to SD then take on Rollins' contract for something minor?
  23. It isn't one or the other. It was a good deal that didn't work out for the Jays. It happens.
  24. If you take the hindsight out of it it was a good deal, not much to discuss.
  25. Yup, I'm not opposed to adding for the right piece though and you have to take risks to win. That being said I'm content staying put and don't want to see another bad deal like the Dickey move.
