    Right now my biggest concern is to get him signed and pitching. Obviously I feel there were better choices at 1-10 but, now it's time to focus on maximizing the return on investment. The sooner they can get him working with the coaches and in to games the better.

    And that's just it, the BP is full of good option and the rotation stinks. Even if you move Cecil form the BP it will still be strong. Why use a valuable asset in such low leverage circumstances?

    Blue Jays draftees with similar stuff to Bickford; Sanchez Stroman Beede Norris Syndergaard Nicolino Smoral Musgrove Comer Stilson DeScalafini Wojciechowski I think Bickford has the most upside of the group but, they could have gotten someone similar (and they did in Hollon) later in the draft.

    It's just frustrating that AA keeps going pitching heavy. Statistically speaking hitters that pan out provide more value than pitchers additionally hitters are injured less frequently than pitchers. We just want AA to pick MLB players and the more pitchers you take the less drafted players that will eventually help the MLB club. At least he'll get value back for the ones that do pan out, like the A's or TBay.

    Great line, I've always like Teheran. I doubt he is ever the star he was once pegged to be but, he's still a front end guy IMO.

    Interestingly scouts aren't hyping Puig the same way the media is. Definitely seems like a difference maker in his short time in the MLB though. He's certainly a guy I'll be following closely over the next few seasons.

    Perez is expected back mid July about a month before Drabek, and 6 weeks ahead of Hutch but, barring a set back yes they should all be back by early-August.

    The Pirates got McCutch at 11th overall 8 years ago, perhaps they try to strike gold again a snag a potential 5 tool talent in Meadows.

    Ya, there are always Brett Cecil's floating around. I hate to say it but, I could care less about what is best for Cecil's career as he is easily replaceable. It could help the team immensely and that is the only important factor.

    With the injuries to the Jays pitching staff leaving Jays brass scrambling for replacements. The minor leagues have been pilfered, prospects yo-yo'ed and AAAA vets worked until their arms explode. The Jays' need for a multi-innings pitcher/swingman that can be relied upon to go 2-4IP on any given night and spot start is ever more apparent. Last year Carlos Villanueva handled the job admirably and buoyed that performance to a $10M deal this off-season. Could Brett Cecil, with his improved fastball and confidence, be the player to fill that role? The Jays have other high leverage pitchers and situational lefties to work the back end of the pen. Yes, Cecil could offer Gibbons another shutdown option at the end of games but, IMO he offers more value by replacing innings of AAAA filler and retreads with quality work. Stretch him out, start letting him go 3 innings, in a couple months get up to 5 and get him some spot starts.

    Both think it doesn't effect his draft stock. Teams view it as a one time "knuckle-head" type of issue and not a drug abuse problem. Appel and Gray both aren't asking for the moon and are still expected to go at the top of the draft. They think that Gray will now ask for less money which may make him more attractive to teams at the top of the draft. Gray has elite stuff and more upside, Appel has more polish and is better now. They don't think Gray will make it out of the top 3, definitely not the top 5. There's still like 20min more but, I stopped listening...

    Colby has looked great in the field this year, he has a smooth swing from the left side and his approach at the plate is really starting come around. I've been off the Rasmus bandwagon for awhile but I've been impressed with the changes to his swing and the power it has brought. Lately he has been ripping pitches the other way and looks to be turning a corner (just my opinion) with the SO's. IMO the Jays should hold off on moving Rasmus until the off-season. If he continues to perform well they'll get a decent prospect, if he turns a corner they'll get a very good prospect and if he cools off they can just hang on to him and see if the changes stick next year.

    Im just so sick of relying on guys making MLB debuts as depth. Option years exist so use them to your advantage instead of gifting players roster spots and throwing your hands in the air when they fail.

    For a normal person like you and me very easy. I'm not sure of the requirements for a TUE. Can any doctor prescribe the Adderall or does it have to be an MLB doctor. It would be much easier to get from the former rather then the later.

    I think we'd need to add a couple options in FA if the Jays want to compete next year. IMO Hutch, Drabek, Nolin, Jenkins, and Stroman need to be used as AAA depth. AA shouldn't bank on his entire rotation being healthy and pitching well next year, he's made that mistake twice already and he needs to learn from the outcome.

    Already discussed in the draft thread. MLB can't suspend him but he will be put through a more rigorous drug testing program than the rest of the class in the future. Apparently the test results aren't shared with the NCAA and they can't suspend him either. I still can't see him falling out of the Top 3 and fully expect him to be taken by HOU 1-1. The talk is Houston wants a true #1 talent while maintaining some of their draft budget to go over slot in later rounds. The failed drug test allows them to snag Gray at a possible discount and get the elite talent they want.

    Ya, looking at B/R they list him as arb eligible in 2016 and earliest FA in 2019. I'd love to add Gattis but I can't see the Braves parting with him.
