  1. Cot's doesn't have him as arb eligible though, perhaps his weird route to the majors has him on a one year deal w/o control?
  2. I followed on my phone last year, lots of analysis for every pick but, the videos wouldn't work.
  3. Not yet, I can't imagine the Braves letting him go though... Is he a FA at the end of the year?
  4. If the Jays are planning a big off-season then adding some SP depth while it is available makes sense. Gallardo alone doesn't improve this team enough for me to make a real strong push but he is under control for another season so if the price is right I'd at least entertain the idea. Gallardo + Lucroy would help this team a lot though.
  5. Thanks for the info North I'm really curious what would happen if Gray failed to sign and returned to college for his senior season. I'm not an Insider so I can't read that article but, if that option is discussed I would really appreciate someone posting what KLAW has to say about it.
  6. TBH I think it lowers his bonus demands enough to make him a lock to go #1.
  7. He wont fall, Adderall isn't a big deal to MLB clubs.
  8. I don't think the MLB can test him yet (he isn't a member of the MLBPA) so it would be an NCAA suspension. I doubt it carries over to the MLB but, I'm not certain. According to ESPN; Gray is a Junior though so it may effect the leverage he has in contract negotiations.
  9. If they planned on trading d'Arnaud they should of been all over Russel Martin. Pitt is lucky to have him.
  10. Yup and they are all better than JPA.
  11. There are some stop gap C's in FA that could help but, their will be heavy competition for them. If you want good catching you almost have to develop it yourself (or pay a king's ransom for one). I feel Ruiz and McCann would be good fits as well but, not on long term deals. There will be MIF'ers better than Izturis and DeRosa available in FA and through trade. AA will have lots of options but he needs to target a premium defender more so than a big bat. AA can definitely get some pitching depth through FA this off-season and there will be a few choices. If he feel;s the team needs a front-end SP a trade is the only way.
  12. What could they trade for an ace though? They don't have anything of real value outside of the 6 players you mentioned, Lohse and Gallardo.
  13. If Osuna and Gose was enough to start a package for Lucroy and Gallardo I wouldn't let Melvin hang up. Having a solid C would help this team more than any other position, they are just so involved in the game and JPA is terrible. IMO MIL should look to move Hart, Lohse, Gallardo, Aramis, and Weeks sometime before the 2014 season. If that's the route they are going moving Lucroy while he is playing well and has a few years of control (FA in 2016 which would be before their window of contention) for a haul while they can makes some sense.
  14. It would be awesome if we had 30 posters who followed the draft enough to do this. Admittedly my knowledge of the class ends around the top 20. I'd like to see the 5 or 6 posters that really follow the draft do a top 15 and make a forum consensus for Thurs.
  15. I'll be more upset if they go the low upside college player Deck/Jenkins/Cooper route. The Jays need to go after an impact player at 10.
  16. I think he would be very hard to pry away. They would also have to commit to a full rebuild if they moved both of those guys. I can't see MIL going that route at this point but, it is the direction they should go IMO.
  17. I really like the new draft rules. They add another layer of strategy and preparation to the draft. Crawford has as much upside as anyone that will be there at 10 and he may just work better in the overall draft strategy. If you can't tell I'm excited for Thursday!
  18. I really don't want Kinsler and that contract though, the Jays are old and expensive enough. Not that Kinsler isn't a good player, he just is not someone I would give up the kind of value it would take to make a deal.
  19. IMO the Jays will need to improve at C, SP and in the MIF which can be addressed in several ways. In FA the Jays should be able to address the MIF but, there doesn't look to be a top flight pitcher or C on the FA market. IMO they will have to look to make a trade to improve those areas. I wouldn't mind targeting a Gallardo and Lucroy package from MIL. It would cost a ton of talent but, the Brewers are desperate for young talent and the Jays are desperate to win now. They could line up well for a deal.
  20. DeRosa is the backup C, duh! But ya that was definitely an oversight, Blanco is just so terrible. I'd look to move one of Davis/Boni ahead of DFA'ing DeRosa (opening the roster spot in the off-season would be good idea IMO) but, if you can't get any value back let the old man go.
  21. I'm starting to get on the Crawford bandwagon. He has elite tools, is a freak athlete who plays a premium position well and the nephew of Carl Crawford (who comes from a baseball family). The Jays could certainly do worse.
  22. If we want Frazier the teams at the top of the draft are going to have to go pitching heavy or get scared off by his bonus demands. After the top talents Frazier, Gray, Appel and Stewart are taken I don't feel there is a big talent gap in the next 10 picks or so. McGuire isn't my favourite either but if the Jays feel he is the BPA I'll be happy with the selection. We heard the Jays were in on Davis a week or two before the draft. It was actually quite similar to the way the McGuire and Crawford Jays ties began popping up recently.
  23. I couldn't agree more. AA will not tear down this core he will retool and try again next year. If the Jays are still way out of it at the deadline AA should trade off some vets and make space for Gose and the young pitchers to get playing time. There is no reason to lose 90 games this year and not know what your young talent can bring to the table next season. AA has always said the goal was always 3 trips to the playoffs over the next 5 years (well basically 4 now). The Jays were always better primed to contend in 2014 when their pitching depth (Hutch, Drabek, Perez, Nolin, Stroman, Stilson, Jenkins) are actually ready to step in to MLB roles and young and AA has another offseason to add complementary pieces in FA. Obviously trying to go from a fringe .500 team to a WS contender didn't work, it's time for AA to take a step back and say, "My team needs changes to contend. What do I need to add to my team's core (EE, Jose, Dickey, Morrow, Reyes, Lawrie, Buehrle) to get there?"
  24. The Jays would be all over that, WAS and LAA wouldn't consider it.
  25. Jose has a great contract and still has a few good seasons left. IMO he could definitely fetch Profar+. If AA is going to move Bautista he should absolutely look to maximize his value by packaging him with a good reliever (Delabar?) and JJ (first he has to be healthy and pitching well, then someone needs to offer more value than a comp pick) at the deadline. Every contender would be interested in adding that much talent and depth for a playoff drive. As for what that package would get you I'd imagine it would be something along the lines of Profar + Olt + Alfaro + Perez would get it done.
