  1. Gibbons managing definitely up Janssen's and Edwin's chances.
  2. I expect everyone to act in the best interest of keeping their job. It's not that AA shouldn't look to retool, perhaps using some of his stars as trade chips. It's that Rogers trusted AA to go out and build a contender. If he sells off the guys he bet on it will be as if he doesn't believe in himself anymore and a hit to Rogers' confidence in him. If he goes that route the team would have to perform well next year in order for AA to avoid the axe. Now if AA were to get Profar+ for Bautista, the question becomes what could he get for a healthy Reyes as Profar's natural position is SS. I know the Cards are looking to get MIF help and could be interested in an AS SS. Perhaps AA could land Taveras or Miller + for him. I don't know about you guys but, I'd be all for moving Bautista and Reyes for Profar, Taveras ++ and re-investing that freed-up payroll space on pitching and another bat (a better catcher preferred).
  3. Janssen and Jose (reputation and a derth of power OF'ers in the AL) are locks IMO.
  4. Hahaha I should've expected a shot at AA with that one! TBH if AA is moving Bautista he needs to get more than Profar back. Either the Rangers need to take on future salary or give up some more value. The Jays are multiple pieces away at this point, simply swapping our best player for Profar wont turn this ship around.
  5. I can see AA wanting a pick in the top 10 next year, it's supposed to be a deep draft. However if you fail to sign a pick you cannot shift the funds to the later round picks. If you fail to sign a pick the allotted slot value is subtracted from your draft budget. Bickford is going to go right around slot value or slightly over though. Therefore whether the Jays sign him or not (unless somehow they ink him well over/under slot which again I can't see happening) doesn't really impact their ability to sign Tellez or Brentz.
  6. AA can't really sell now, he's dug himself a hole. I'd definitely entertain a Bautista for Profar swap but that move gets AA fired.
  7. The Texas media is in love with Kinsler as well. They'd never suggest for him to be the one shipped out.
  8. Jose and Edwin definitely deserve to be there or at least get consideration to be there. Janssen should make the BP as well. If Reyes was healthy I;d imagine he would be the starting SS as well....
  9. Recap from last night's Blue Jays top prospects. Ricky Ro takes the mound for Buffalo tonight. New Hampshire - 9 vs Akron - 8 McGuire; 5.1 IP, 4 ER, 7 H, 4 BB, 3 SO, Pillar; 2 for 5, 2B, 2 RBI AJ Jimenez; 2 for 4, 2B, RBI, SO Dunedin - 3 @ Palm Beach - 5 Burns; 1 for 3, 2B, RBI Crouse; 1 for 4, 3B, SO Lansing - 6 vs South Bend - 2 Cole; 7 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 0 BB, 7 SO Smith Jr; 0 for 3, 1 BB, 1 SO Lopes; 1 for 2, RBI, BB DSL Blue Jays - 3 @ DSL Tigers - 8 Urena; 1 for 4, 2 SO
  10. It definitely seems like AA is hoping to get most of the guys in round 3-10 underslot to make a run at one of Tellez or Brentz. No way he has the cash to sign both unless Bickford signs way below slot value (which he wont).
  11. Why would we move Osuna so fast? Easy, to challenge Osuna. Sanchez has a better FB than Osuna but Roberto is further along in almost every capacity other than velocity. He's performed in an environment more challenging than AA and at a younger age. It's been shown universally across all disciplines that the best way to improve is to be challenged. Osuna is too dominant for Lansing, put him somewhere hitters have a chance, have him deal with the trials and tribulations of a truly difficult placement. Furthermore Osuna wasn't babied as a teenager, he has logged more innings than every HS kid in the draft and even some college pitchers. He's thrown breaking pitches for years, has worked 4-6IP multiple times and has had pitch counts that reflect that. Why would the Jays put the training wheels back on a guy that already had them taken off and is cruising? Additionally all pitchers have a ticking clock on their arms. If Osuna can get to the majors quicker then he can help the Jays for longer and maximize his value -- before his arm explodes.
  12. Looks like Bickford would have to sign for underslot to make it happen.
  13. He's an all singles hitter now that doesn't make nearly enough contact. He needs to re-find his power stroke or start looking for a new career.
  14. TBH I'd love to see Osuna get some time in AA this season. He isn't going to get knocked around worse than he did as a 16 year old in the Mexican League. Then NH can start the year with a rotation of Nolin, Sanchez, Stroman, Osuna, Deck, caught by AJ Jimenez, with Crouse in CF and Kevy Pillar in left. Ya, that's be a fun team to watch....
  15. If the Jays plan on relying on Stroman in the rotation next year, they absolutely have to get him MLB innings this season.
  16. I think we are forgetting Stroman is 22, advanced for his age and has other plus pitches. I agree that he should get as many innings as possible this season but, I could care less how they are distributed between the MLB or AA level. If he is going to be a SP he needs to be stretched out in the minors for now. However come September he should be up when rosters expand and the MiLB seasons are over.
  17. The Jays end the month with a few divisional series in a row. First they get BAL at home (Jun 21, 22, 23) and then on the road against TB (Jun 24, 25, 26) and finish with a 4 game set against BOS (Jun 27, 28, 29, 30). If they want to get back in to the race they are going to have to win these series.
  18. Over their last 162 the Jays are 69-93
  19. The MiLB season end in late August, Stroman better be with the big club in some capacity come September. However, as you rightfully stated, Stilson/Carreno seem like the best immediate BP options on the farm. Both could help the Jays immediately if necessary. None of those guys are on the 40man though so it would take some roster shuffling to get them up.
  20. Jays need to go 65W and 36L the rest of the way to get to 93 wins, or a .643 win %. It's not impossible but, it's going to take a couple long streaks and the entire team performing better than it has.
  21. Only a couple more weeks now, well fingers crossed at least...
  22. Only because Reyes blew his ankle
  23. I'd do that deal but, I'd to try and hang on to one of the arms if possible. (Obviously wouldn't pass on a controllable 2B to keep Wagner or 42yo Oliver)
