    I know nothing about this person or his hitting philosophy... Hopefully he doesn't suck! Also, how's Salty defensively these days? Framing? He's not an upgrade with the bat, but he has to be an upgrade behind the plate, no?

    I honestly don't believe that's the case. You're not looking at someone with gaudy Bautistaesque numbers to begin with, so a much smaller decline will be much more noticeable with Melky. I'd be uncomfortable giving him more than a 3 year deal, as I think Melky at age 34 is not going to be a valuable player anymore (and I could see the decline starting as early as next season...)

    I like the idea of Ichiro as a 4th OF, but probably not the sort of player I'd want to rely on for my everyday left field duties..

    You do realize that Rasmus is a significantly better player than Gose right? Anyone starting Gose over Rasmus is either being told to from on high, or has severe head trauma. Gose hasn't ever shown that he had more than upside... Snider at least put up good (great) numbers in the minors... I don't want to let Gose walk, he'll be a very serviceable 4th OF who gets zero ABs and hopefully can pinch run without his brain exploding from all the stimuli of thinking about the next base AND the pitcher, but that's about it. One day Gose may learn to take a walk, and get on base at a non-terrible clip, but that day ain't 2015 by my reckoning...
