    Really, the thought process here is "contract value", right? so the threshold should be a minimum of 0 games played. A guy who has a $100M contract and hasn't played in the past 2 years is certainly a poorer value than Reyes. Jeter missing most of the last year doesn't make his contract better at all (well, arguably it does, since he's a negative WAR player now...)

    Those contracts are (IIRC) usually in the 7 year range... Not totally against $12M AAV if he can play to a BetterThanPillar level...

    Short pitchers with a history of suspensions are now the new market inefficiency...

    I'm not so sure I'm okay with the idea of a suspension when, despite all conjecture, there's no proof of any kind that that was intentional (particularly given how wild he was for the remainder of the AB... Also, shouldn't Gibbons be suspended too, isn't the "if there's intent, the manager is also responsible" policy still in effect?

    I think it's less "it's mind-blowing that he hasn't swing 3-0 more regularly" than it is "someone would try to bunt on a 3-0 count", which is several kinds of dumb.
