If Teo could get his bat back to last year, and keep his D from the early part of this year, he's a useful piece. I have more faith in him than in most of the other strugglers that have been written off (close call w/ Guriel.) I could still see him being a contributor.
I like him a hell of a lot more than McKinney.
I thought he looked better this year from the eye test, but when I was looking up Vladdy's D numbers earlier, Teo's name was up there in almost every category. Again, small sample size applies, but he's actually been good this year in LF.
Dude, if I was a fringe MLB starter who was almost certainly experiencing his last rodeo, I'd be getting whatever I could get that wasn't nailed down to remember the ride.
Teo has some of the best defensive numbers on the team this year, FYI. I was surprised to see that as well, but he's looked a LOT better in the OF this year, and the numbers show that as well.
... Who in the f*** is Rosen? Do you mean Bergen? He's produced exactly 0 WAR in 18 games, has a FIP of 4.26 (and an ERA of 4.24) and has managed to land himself on the IL. Sure he's having a better season than Elvis this year, but he's not lighting the world on fire, and he's 25 already.
His UZR/150 is at -6.9 (though horrifically small sample size). You're looking at a slightly below average MLB 3B. That's not terrible for ANY 20 year old, much less one with Vladdy's bat. I'd rate him as better than expected, and perfectly cromulent when the whole package is considered.
Missing a couple of letters in your second to last paragraph. A W to start it off and either a t or and r to start off the word ough.
Good article, though.
Edit: Suggestion: For your second Fangraphs screengrab, include the 2017 and 2018 numbers as well as 2019. I had to scroll around to compare.
I have a theory that anyone who grows up to become an MLB umpire was not given nearly enough attention as a child, so they have to be the centre of attention as adults.
This game was decided by who had the better shitbag reliever. Once a game gets to the 13th inning it's not really about who is best, it's about who is least worst.
