  1. 8 hits and 6 walks is usually more than enough to win that game. The issue wasn't so much the offence (every starter but LGJ and Janssen was on base at least once), it was getting that offence at the optimal time. Teo batting 8th backfired, as it OBVIOUSLY would, not running McKinney w/ Alford on Third (either there's no throw and the double play is taken away, or Alford scores on the throw easily) and some truly bone headed base running was the issue. Hitting into 4 double plays didn't do the team any favours either. Also, walking 9 of their guys is just a thing that cannot happen. Vladdy had a great game at the plate (we won't speak of the running or fielding), the bullpen has been a bright spot, Biggio had a GREAT game, and Teo had another 2 hit game w/ a double for good measure. Of note: Teo's already got half his WAR total from last season.
  2. Montoyo knows that these guys are all starters that happen to be in the bullpen, and that they are capable of pitching to more than 5 batters, right?
  3. Yeah, if they'd held Rowdy at third, Vladdy couldn't have been thrown out and he'd almost certainly have scored on the single, or possibly on the double play... I mean, that's not the kinda hindsight you can really use, but what could have been *sighs wistfully*
  4. So, what's the ground rule if a ball goes through the giant hole in that stupid, s***** fence they have there? Double I assume? Is nobody going to put something in there to plug that giant hole?
  5. And he would have probably scored on that single too...
  6. If an ump misses one call, they are terrible. Because we have a solution that is 100% accurate, and is therefore NOT terrible. There's no excuse for any strike calls to be missed in 2020, it only happens because all umpires are terrible.
  7. Solid contact from Vladdy, but a really, really dumb move running to third...
  8. This ump is terrible. I mean, they all are, but this ump is terrible and I'm currently watching him be terrible.
  9. Unless he implodes, he should pitch 5, 6, and 7 at least.
  10. This pitching change is brought to you by: abject stupidity.
  11. And he played for both the Quakers and the Broncos! Quite the resume for ol' Cannonball Titcomb.
  12. Original guitarist in my band died from Fentanyl laced "something" (probably coke, but you never knew with him...). It's really awful stuff
  13. Yeah, at this point, Panik and Drury should be cemented to the bench and only used in emergencies (or, in Drury's case, possibly as a defensive sub, Panik isn't even a good defender, so his value is limited there...). There's no need to get either of those guys ABs. Same goes for Tellez, Espinal, Alford and Fisher. We have LGJ, Grichuk and Teo in the OF, Shaw, Biggio, Bichette and Vladdy in the IF and Janssen/McGuire as the catching duo, w/ Janssen getting the bulk of the playing time. Those should be the players on the field 90% of the time. There's no need to "get as many lefties into the lineup as possible" against right handed pitchers, and there's no need to see if Drury is anything more than a 12 wRC+ player, because he's shown that he absolutely is not.
  14. Apparently someone named Dany Jimenez was claimed in the rule 5 draft from the Jays by the Giants, and has been returned. I've literally never heard of that player before.
  15. Yeah, I'm pretty sure this site doesn't qualify as a mockery free zone...
  16. We've been in almost every game, and we've faced generally good pitching. I'm frustrated as f***, but nothing (other than the fact that Joe Panik should stop getting f***ing ABs) can be reasonably inferred from a sample size this small. If we suck balls against the truly awful Red Sox over the next few games, then we have more to worry about.
  17. That's what they relayed on the broadcast, yeah. It was astonishingly dumb.
  18. Both would be terrible options. The latter could be worse if it's just a day-to-day thing for Teo.
  19. I can understand not wanting Alford in the lineup, but are we really that desperate to get Tellez and his careet 97 wRC+ into the lineup? Against tough lefties to boot?
  20. Yeah, with how weird this season has been, exposing guys to waivers seems like a shortsighted move. I mean, hopefully it doesn't happen, but with how completely random testing has been, it's not hard to imagine a situation where we lose some pitchers/outfielders in a bunch and then have to dumpster dive for even worse players.
  21. That was a great play, damn.
  22. The right field fence is mic'd for some reason?
  23. Ump bones Ryu, boo.
  24. So, have they cut the in stadium camera crew down completely? Do we just not get replays at all anymore? Not of the throw, or the check swing just there?
  25. So, is holding the runner on at first from like 2' away a thing now?
