If he's only signing 1 year deals, age is mostly irrelevant. He's signed for $17.5 this year, and I can't see teams giving any player $30M AAV (and make no mistake, that's how teams will view this, as AAV) for 2021 at all. I just don't see how Trevor Bauer gets the 7th highest contract for a pitcher ever. He's been a very good, bordering great, pitcher in his career, but outside of 2018, he's been basically sub Marcus Stroman career wise (and Stroman is younger).
That's not a dude to whom a competent front office gives $30M+.
