  1. Yeah, looking at the numbers, I was amazed he wasn't removed from the 40 man, but it's pretty clear that the org likes him enough that he survived on the roster when I expected him to be lost... There's something there that I'm not seeing, I guess. I did read somewhere that he was very impressive at the alternate site last year, so that's not reflected in the numbers obviously.
  2. Grichuck + League Min Salary = f***ing Spectacular.
  3. Palacios comes in as a pinch runner and then proceeds to hit a double, triple, and homer. Not a bad game!
  4. Honestly, there's a chance he doesn't make the club that has nothing to do with manipulating service time. If the team believes that McGuire is worth a roster spot, then Kirk is (by virtue of his options) the odd man out, and will start the season in the minors due to completely legitimate reasons, since there's no way they're carrying 3 catchers. He's definitely a guy who deserves to be in the majors, but that's not the only consideration. And if he's not in the majors, it's not necessarily because of "manipulating service time", which y'know, isn't something to do with every young player, just the ones you feel are going to be serious difference makers for your team years down the road.
  5. This is him pitching for Vancouver...
  6. Arencibia's signing bonus (assuming my quick Googling was correct) was $1.3M
  7. Manoah actually looks like he's slimmed down since he was drafted. But he's a mountain of a man.
  8. Not a super great lineup, but y'know... Spring.
  9. Oh, right it was a defibrillator that he mentioned... I always mix that up, 'cause I think of defibrillators as the "CLEAR!" machines from medical dramas... I don't think he's ever said anything about a specific ventricle being a problem, just general "weakness", I had an angiogram (man, that is really uncomfortable) that showed limited blockages in my arteries at least - that's what ruled out this being a heart attack. Honestly, I feel pretty good these days. I've lost a STUPID amount of weight and muscle mass, and my energy levels haven't come close to recovering, but the medication I'm on is keeping me very functional, so hooray for better living through chemistry! I miss beer though, like... a lot. And yeah, it REALLY does suck. My bassist and his wife ended up getting it as well, no idea if they have any long-term complications as of yet though. I appreciate the well-wishing also
  10. I'm 42, and if I hadn't shown any improvement in my last echocardiogram they were considering putting one in for me. Fortunately, I showed "mild improvement" (I'm officially out of the red zone on this chart yay!) so that discussion is pushed off for at least 6 months.
  11. And that doesn't even include my illegal stream!
  12. Annnnd they just decide "f*** it" and call the game. As there is no feed, I can't confirm that there was a bench clearing brawl, but it would be posting malpractice for me not to speculate wildly.
  13. Christoper Sanchez walks another one (19P 5Strikes) and the Phillies blatantly violate the rules, pulling him after 19 pitches instead of the requisite 20. I assume Chuckles will be playing the remainder of the game under protest.
  14. Christoper Sanchez has an impressive 14 pitches, 3 strikes through 4 batters (double, walk, walk, HBP)
  15. Martin walks, and we return to the uninteresting minor league guys portion of the day.
  16. I'd like to apologize in advance for this joke, but Kevin Smith makes a Quick Stop at second after a double...
  17. TyTice works around a single and a throwing error from Martinez to get out of the inning on 13 pitches.
  18. Damon Jones has terrible facial hair, but it doesn't impede his ability to get out our s***** minor league fodder. Clarke walked , Orelvis Martinez singled. Everyone else sucked.
  19. Another single, and another K to end the rough inning for Cole.
  20. Moniak showing why he was the first overall pick w/ a first pitch flyout to LF.
  21. A.J. Cole stinkin' up the joint... Single, Walk, Wild Pitch, Double to start. Now a K to try to limit the damage.
  22. Wholesale defensive changes for the Jays. Only interesting one is Martin is now in CF. Oh, Orelvis is at short too, that's fun.
  23. I think the Phillies are pulling that "we can end an inning if our pitcher is too tired" thing. Falter faltered (see what I mean about the headlines?) his way to 30 pitches.
  24. McGuire wanks... Errr walks. Palacios to second.
