  1. This time of year he probably goes unclaimed, so that's good I wouldn't want to lose him for Soria, who was a... bizarre pickup.
  2. @EastCoaster Also, I'm not bothered by this at all, I want him to do well, I like him a lot, but there wasn't really going to be any playing time for him w/ Vladdy cementing himself at 1B for the foreseeable future.
  3. Always nice to hear your thoughts, Mike Wilner
  4. Vladdy may get the biggest contract in MLB history (until the next biggest contract in MLB history) Bo is going to get HUGE money, Ray and Barrios will both get a lot as well. "willing to spend" doesn't mean Dodgers money.
  5. They already said that was the plan for this year.
  6. I'm actually relieved that they didn't actually go all in. I mean, on one hand they absolutely did not get enough pieces to make a meaningful playoff run, but on the other hand, we didn't mortgage any more of the future.
  7. It's an overpay in prospects for a pitcher w/o much control. It's got similarities. The return is different, obviously, but the cost isn't far off.
  8. Just seems like a poor use of money to do that when we have to ink 4 players to big money contracts and we have internal options to cover 2B. I like Semien, but he's not high on my priority list right now.
  9. Unless Kirk is being moved, this makes little sense. And who are they going to move Kirk for?
  10. And that's totally fair, and reasonable. The problem is that we gave up a LOT of prospect capital to get him here, FAR too much IMO.
  11. Of course there is, but having them means that we've got more insurance in case Groshans/Orelvis/Smith/Pearson/Manoah bust. Prospects are a numbers game, the more high upside ones you have, the more star calibre players you produce.
  12. I honestly don't think an extension would change my opinion of the trade. We gave assets to the Twins in exchange for 1.5 years of Berrios, what he does in the future has no bearing on the trade that has happened.
  13. Single-handedly? Chuckles helped by putting him in a position to fail.
  14. While I love this team, they're not quite there yet. Montoyo can't manage a pen for s***, the bats have a remarkable ability to go cold all at the same time, but then just go apeshit for a few games, which results in great numbers and a lot of fun, but they've ended up as a just above .500 team. This was not the year to spend prospect capital to "go for it".
  15. I cannot overstate how much I hate giving up Martin and SWR for a chance to maybe, if things break well, lose a wildcard game. I didn't much care for the Hand move, but this one is just asinine.
  16. He's been pretty garbage this year, so I hope we don't give up much for a rental... Since our farm is better than the BoSox, I'd be willing to part with Trent Palmer, our 22nd best prospect according to MLB.com.
  17. Oh good, now we're going to have a bunch of people here suggesting that we sign him.
  18. If there's one thing I know about Toronto fans is that they show up for games like tonight. And they'll be loud. Also, with 15K capacity, it'll be just as full as the ACC
  19. I would reluctantly move Groshans for Ohtani.
  20. Meh, it probably costs Rogers < $250K above what they're already paying to run a separate radio broadcast for the season.
  21. More bad than good IMO. If the Nats were eating the full contract then I'd probably consider it neutral.
