  1. Jeff Passan @JeffPassan Shortstop Andrelton Simmons and the Minnesota Twins are in agreement on a one-year, $10.5 million contract, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN.
  2. Dan Shulman @DShulman_ESPN Report I just got on Semien - "as hard a worker as there is. Was banged up most of the season, but healthy in playoffs, and crushed." Seems like a really good signing, he'll be motivated to try and earn multi-yr deal somewhere, and Jays retain flexibility re Groshans, Martin
  3. Andrew Stoeten @AndrewStoeten Important, re: Marcus Semien: "A slow start had an oversized effect on the overall numbers. After 14 games, Semien had a 24 wRC+ and -0.2 WAR. Over his next 46 games, he put up a 133 wRC+ and 2.0 WAR — nearly identical to his great 2019 performance." https://t.co/gOjc0waNHM?amp=1 Andrew Stoeten @AndrewStoeten In this same piece, it's noted that the free agent with the most fWAR over the last three seasons is not Realmuto, not LeMahieu, not Bauer, and not Springer, but Marcus Semien. LOL!
  4. Jeff Passan @JeffPassan Infielder Marcus Semien is in agreement with the Toronto Blue Jays on a one-year, $18 million contract, a source familiar with the deal tells ESPN.

  6. Jayson Stark @jaysonst More on Realmuto's contract, per sources: Of his $20M salary for 2021, half is deferred to help #Phillies with pandemic cash-flow issues. He'd then earn the same amount ($23.875M) in each of the final 4 years.
  7. Craig Mish @CraigMish The Philadelphia Phillies and JT Realmuto are in agreement on a 5 year $115.5 million dollar contract. Pending physical. Per source.
  8. Jon Heyman @JonHeyman MLB memo says union rejects deal for DH and expanded playoffs Jon Heyman @JonHeyman MLB offered a universal DH if the union agreed to expanded playoffs. Union rebuffed the deal, which included extra money for players, so at least for now there will be no universal DH.
  9. Brahm Resnik @brahmresnik BREAKING Arizona’s Cactus League tells @MLB it wants to delay start of spring training because of Maricopa County’s high COVID infection rate. #12News
  10. Jeff Passan @JeffPassan Closer Brad Hand and the Washington Nationals are in agreement on a one-year, $10.5 million contract, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN. Hand winds up with more than his option and will be the Nationals’ new closer.
  11. Ben Nicholson-Smith @bnicholsonsmith #BlueJays will officially introduce George Springer on a conference call with Mark Shapiro, Ross Atkins & Charlie Montoyo at 1pm ET this Tuesday
  12. Mark Feinsand @Feinsand Sources tell me and @adamdberry there are indications that Jameson Taillon will be the next Pirates player to be traded -- possibly in the next day or two. The Pirates have already dealt Joe Musgrove this offseason, so it would not be a surprise if Taillon is moved, too.
  13. CBS46 @cbs46 BREAKING NEWS: Hall of Famer and one-time home run king Atlanta Braves legend Henry Louis “Hank” Aaron passed away this morning at the age of 86. https://t.co/v72XAnGpmY?amp=1
  14. Jon Heyman @JonHeyman Anthony Bass agrees to Marlins deal. 2 years plus option. @CraigMish 1st
  15. Toronto Blue Jays @BlueJays OFFICIAL: We’ve signed RHP Tyler Chatwood to a one-year contract. To make room, RHP Anthony Castro has been DFA’d. Welcome to the #BlueJays, Tyler!
  16. Robert Murray @ByRobertMurray Braves circling on free-agent catcher J.T. Realmuto, according to league sources. Other teams on the west coast are expressing interest.
  17. Buster Olney @Buster_ESPN The Jays have been incredibly aggressive, and have more to do. They did not come close to signing Michael Brantley.
  18. Mark Feinsand @Feinsand Toronto's signing of George Springer would seemingly take the Blue Jays out of the market for Trevor Bauer, but I'm told that might not necessarily be true. If Toronto gets Bauer to lead its rotation, the Jays would be a tough team for the AL to deal with in 2021.
  19. Jeff Passan @JeffPassan The Los Angeles Dodgers are monitoring the market for right-hander Trevor Bauer and could be a player depending on the price, sources tell ESPN. Focus for the Dodgers now remains on a right-handed infield bat, but Bauer and the Dodgers remain a possibility as his market develops.
  20. Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal Now hearing same as @Feinsand and @JeffPassan: No agreement yet between Blue Jays and Brantley. Two sides remain in discussions. Apologies for being among those who reported deal prematurely.
  21. Hazel Mae @thehazelmae Blue Jays official refutes my earlier tweet on source re: 3 yr deal. “The team remains interested in Michael Brantley but there is no deal currently in place.”
  22. Mark Feinsand @Feinsand Per source, the deal between the Blue Jays and Michael Brantley is not done. The Blue Jays remain very interested and in the mix - along with other clubs - but there has not been an agreement between the two sides.
  23. Already posted and not sure who Bradley is
  24. Hazel Mae @thehazelmae Michael Brantley in agreement on a 3 year deal with #BlueJays per source.
