  1. Thank you. Finally, somebody gets it. We haven't "pulled away" because we were seven or eight games behind in late July. Now we're a game and a half ahead. A nine game swing in the standings in one month is massive. If both teams keep up that pace, we win the division by double digits. Obviously, we're not going to sustain this pace, but does anyone really expect the Yankees to go better than 22-14 (.611) the rest of the way? It's not looking too likely. I would say this is best-case scenario for them, as they have been fading pretty badly. That puts them at 91 wins, so if we go 21-14 (.600) to finish at 92 wins, the division is likely ours. But to be honest, I doubt the Yankees win 90.
  2. Have been a fan since the late 80's. Mt first game was at Exhibition Stadium against the Rangers in '87 or '88. Pretty sure Junior Felix hit an inside-the-park homer, but the memory is getting a little hazy. I was 12 and 13 for the WS years, and was an enormous Alomar fan. Those teams pretty much cemented my status as a Jays fan for life.
  3. Looks like Hutchison on Saturday and Buehrle on Sunday.
  4. Wasn't there supposed to be a roster move today? Did I miss it?
  5. Navarro again? Also, you have both Edwin and Cola listed as 1b. Which one is dh tonight?
  6. All you need to do to have Price pitch four games against the Yanks is pitch him every fifth GAME until September 1st (Min, NYY, NYY, LAA, Tex, Cle), and then pitch him every fifth DAY after that (Bal, NYY, Atl, NYY, TB). His spot in the rotation would also be up to pitch either the wild card game, or if we win the division, Game One of the ALDS. It also gives him starts against the Angels and Orioles, likely the two teams we'll be battling for the wild card spots. I think this is the most likely scenario.
  7. Soooo...where does Tulo bat in the order tonight? He's gotta be higher than fifth...doesn't he? Donaldson, Bautista, Edwin and Tulo are all pretty interchangeable from 2-5, I guess.
  8. Jeter, easily. Griffey was amazing his first few years in Seattle.
  9. Are my eyes playing tricks on me or is Ryan goins in left? Gibby throwing darts again.
  10. Where's Smoak? Dude deserves to be in there every day right now
  11. Are you talking about the Moustache Club in Oshawa? Is your band playing there?
  12. This is the best thing to happen this season. The first thread that's inspired me to actually log in in months. Well done to all involved.
  13. Unless Gose pulls his head out of his ass and forces his way on to this team, there's no reason to take Colby out of CF.
  14. No, not him. The better Jose. As in Reyes. Yes, it's a 36-game sample size but dude is putting up some kind of numbers. We all know about his contact/on base/speed skills, but I have to admit, I had to do a double take when I noticed he's outSLUGGING everyone on the team outside of Edwin. Really tough to totally hate the Marlins trade when we get to enjoy a player like this (even though we should probably move him to 2B next year).
  15. Time to bump the Gump thread. .274/.339/.827 with excellent D (minus the hail marys he launches to home every now and again). Is he finally scratching the surface of all that talent? BTS must be stretching his typing fingers for a workout on the Cards board.
  16. I can't say I was glued to the screen the entire game, but I don't recall him being tested really at all. There was one play in the later innings where he took a few quick steps to his left to field a grounder, turned and fired to second to get the force, and he looked pretty comfortable doing it. But other than that and the caught stealing, he didn't really have much work to do.
  17. Yep. Bautista's numbers were up in Bonds/Ruth territory over the first half of 2011.
  18. Worst catching combo in the league?
  19. I left out Nolin, Stroman and McGuire because I was trying to list legitimate options.
  20. Yeah it's weird. Suddenly we are neck-deep in legitimate SP options, especially once Morrow, Happ and Hutch get healthy. Dickey Johnson Morrow Buehrle Rogers Wang Romero Happ Hutchison Drabek Jenkins
  21. Sorry if this is posted already but Kyle Drabek made his first start of the year tonight. Pitched 2.1 innings for Dundedin, 5 H, 2 ER 2 SO and unless there was a typo, 0 BB.
  22. I don't think any sane person is expecting it. But being five back in the loss column with a four-game series on the horizon is pretty exciting. I just like having the opportunity to take matters into our own hands at a time when we're playing well, rather than scoreboard watching and hoping someone else will beat them.
