  1. "The Padres, who first pursued Noah Syndergaard at the non-waiver deadline, remain interested in the Mets right-hander, according to major-league sources. Syndergaard, 26, is under control for three more seasons and projected to earn $5.9 million through arbitration in 2019, according to MLBTradeRumors.com. The Mets’ willingness to trade him is not known; the team’s public position is that it wants to build around its starting pitching, not break it apart. The Padres, however, represent a potentially appealing trade partner. Baseball America rates their farm system as the best in the game, and a trade of Syndergaard for multiple prospects would enable the Mets to address a variety of needs. The likelihood that the Mets secure long-term deals with Syndergaard and National League Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom seems slim, so it probably will behoove them to at least explore the trade market for one or the other. DeGrom, 30, who is under control for two more seasons, almost certainly would be the Mets’ preference to retain. He is homegrown (the Mets acquired Syndergaard in a trade from the Blue Jays in December 2012), a more accomplished pitcher and more beloved by teammates and fans. New Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen, when he was deGrom’s agent at CAA, said the team needed to either sign deGrom long-term or trade him. Van Wagenen now is in position to act on his words. DeGrom and Syndergaard are still represented by CAA." - Ken Rosenthal

  5. It's a league ran by one of the co founders of prospectslive.com. It's like the LoD on crack - with salaries, buy ins, unlimited farms, ect. Should be a good time but a lot of time and effort thus the dropping of 2 leagues.
  6. Hello best internet friends, It's with a heavy heart i regret to inform you all that i will need to leave the BORED and BBDL leagues due to an exciting fantasy opportunity for me and my internet family (P2F). While he has not yet decided how he will move forward i have decided i will not have time to continue but would like to personally find replacements as to not burden those leagues that have been so kind to me. Both teams are playoff contenders that have not gone full Connor'd and should be in contention for the playoffs for the foreseeable future. I would like to find a caring, loving owner who will take care of my fantasy babies and be an asset to the leagues i have loved so much Please state your interest here and i will PM to discuss your qualifications. On a side note, i would happy to serve as an adviser for the first year if you need assistance in any way or i can f*** right off. Thanks friends. Love, JFL19 Ps. Go Sens Go!

  10. I feel like Hurl kinda f***ed himself by posting what he did instead of sending a PM. It put anyone who read it on alert someone was worth picking up. When i read it i wondered who it was but knew i would never be able to figure it out. TCA added him shortly after the JG post lol. Funny enough my co manager texted me to pick him up this afternoon but it was about an hour after TCA had already picked him up.

Can someone explain to me why Vancouver is such a big under dog tonight?
  13. Want to trade us Martin Jones?
  14. We are calling up this guy: Miro Heiskanen, D – Dallas Stars (Y! 40%, ESPN 4%, Fantrax 70%) Miro Heiskanen had a pretty respectable ownership for a rookie defenseman, but now he’s a must own. As you’ll see below, John Klingberg is expected to miss the next four weeks, so Heiskanen will take on a much bigger role with the Dallas Stars. The 19-year-old has three assists in his last four games and played a team high 29:26 (3:24 on PP) against the Nashville Predators on Saturday. Last year’s third overall pick is averaging 25 minutes per game over his last five contests.
  15. Mike Berardino chat: While you may not get to vote on the BA top 100 list, how many of your top 10 do you believe are worthy of ranking on it? Mike Berardino: All of them. They're like my children ___ I see Nick Gordon has fallen off the top 10 this year. Was this more a matter of others passing him, or has his stock dropped significantly for you? Mike Berardino: Both. _____ Which statement is more accurate: 1) Duran and Severino gained in the rankings because of a more optimistic assessment of their ceilings. 2) Gordon and Gonsalves plummeted from the list because of a more pessimistic view about their ceilings. Mike Berardino: 3) You're hurting my head. _____ I haven't seen your top 10 list, but am wondering about Kevin Marnon and Taylor Grzjelakowski? Thanks Mike Berardino: That, my friend, was a noble spelling effort _____ Are you going to answer questions or just make fun of readers? Mike Berardino: Ideally, both. Wtf?

  18. The question is whether Davies is that sort of impact player. In order to answer that question, Pro Soccer USA contacted the German stats company Goalimpact, which uses an algorithm to measure the impact individual players have on the field. The system is described as follows on the companies homepage: “Starting at approximately two seasons of data input into our system, we can evaluate the current and forecast reliably the player’s future real strength. This is what we call the Goalimpact.” The database in short measures the extent that a player contributes to the goal difference of a team. A player with a high goal index rating contributes significantly to a positive goal difference when he is on the pitch compared to when he is not on the field. “We average the impact of all games of a player’s career for all clubs, competitions and seasons in relation to all other players in our database. This rating is adjusted by teammate’s values and the opposition strength and by such factors as the number of minutes played, home advantage, fatigue degree and red cards in a game.” The best players in the world achieve above 200 index points. Also, every club and league has an average value. The average for the first German Bundesliga, for example, is approx. 119 points with peaks of up to 162 on average for top teams. Spanish La Liga has an average of 111 points and Italian Serie A is rated with a Goalimpact score of 104 on average. In Biermann’s book “Matchplan,” the company’s founder Jörg Seidel compares his statistics to those of a handicap in golf or the Elo rating system in chess. To put it in Biermann’s words: “Seidel doesn’t suggest that Thomas Müller is a better player than Karim Benzema when the former scores 195 and the later 190. He only suggests that the former is a more valuable player for his team than the later.” To make the system work, Goalimpact has put together a database that includes 320,000 players from over 200 leagues. Goalimpact includes datasets from leagues from all over the world including many youth competitions. The system also takes into account age. A 21-year-old player, for example, is calculated to play, on average, worse than a 26-year-old, an age when many players reach their peak. Even a relative age effect is included in which youth players born in the second half of the year are given a handicap in the database – players born in the second half of the year often struggle in youth teams as they play against older players. When Biermann wrote his book, Seidel pointed out that Alphonso Davies was the highest ranked player in the system with numbers that ranked him alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
  19. According to the latest Bill James Handbook, Hoskins’ minus-24 defensive runs saved was the second-worst number for a left fielder since Sports Info Solutions began tracking the metric in 2003, ahead of only Adam Dunn’s minus-26 in 2007. - Ken Rosenthal Ouch.
  20. Niku is a 22 year old defenceman who was named the top defenceman in the AHL last season as a rookie. He also led the AHL in defensive scoring. While Niku is perfect and still needs to clean up his game in the defensive end sometimes, the good outweighs the bad with him and he should be a help for the Jets. https://www.arcticicehockey.com/2018/11/11/18084538/winnipeg-jets-recall-sami-niku-dmitry-kulikov
