  1. Amazing prospects because in your mind you're imagining a best case scenario of the players they will be. Maybe the Jays internally have more questions than certainty about the players. I'm fine trading away the pair. I wish it would have been for Marquez. I don't know why the Rockies are dead set on holding onto him given how aggressive buyers are this year.
  2. I'm nervous to hear the return. Jim is going to be gutted with this trade.
  3. Next year's trade deadline is going to be super fun if the Angels are out of it yet again and they have a year and 2 months of control of Ohtani and he's declined to sign a long term extension. The bidding war for Ohtani would be epic.
  4. A team that will trade their 2 best prospects and 2 mid range prospects for 2 months of control of one player and 1 year and 2 months of control of another along with a 300 million dollar payroll? You guys would lose your mind if we traded Moreno, Pearson and 2 mid tier prospects for Scherzer and Turner. Even I wouldn't do that and I don't mind trading prospects.
  5. Expensive players expensive dollars. Those 2 players would cost 35 mil which would bring them just shy of 300 mil for the year. I mean that's ridiculous.
  6. I'd much rather trade for Marquez.
  7. The Rays trade for Cruz and then trade Castillo....just fascinating.
  8. The teams that feel the pressure to win do s*** I guess. Gallo and Rizzo....f*** off Yankees.
  9. Rizzo to the Yankees like f*** off.
  10. I was responding to Spanky's he sux. I said he isn't as bad as Robbie was and those numbers were in 31 innings. I'm just saying if the Jays swooped in to get Snell because they wanted to clear salary for getting Scherzer....I'd be fine with that move..lol. We've had pretty decent success on 2 lefties this year!
  11. He's Robbie Ray 2.0 except his bad season this year isn't as bad as Robbie's bad from a year ago. We traded for Matz too. I hate to say Shatkins has a type, but struggling lefties seem to be their thing.
  12. I feel like we should trade for Snell. We usually try and trade for guys when they are having bad years.
  13. They've acquired Clevinger, Darvish, Musgrove, snell and Scherzer....that's all the way into the deep end of the pool. We've left the kids shallow end....stuck in the middle.
  14. It's pretty clear Shatkins has a sense of humor. After the Resse Mcguire incident he acquired: Brad Hand, Marcus Semien and Corey Dickerson! I stole this from twitter, and yes I have the sense of humor of a 12 year old boy.
  15. Hendricks was a mistake. He pitched extremely well and was controllable. Ryan Tepera had injury issues when we got rid of him and hadn't pitched well for 2 years and had less control. It's hard to fault the Jays for cutting ties with Tepera.
  16. There probably isn't room for him on the 40 at the end of the season so he would have been lost for free. We have too many catchers as it is. Hand is a veteran in the pen. The pen is looking Okay right now, but you could have 3 guys get hurt in a weak. We need the depth. We're not going to rue the day we traded Riley Adams.
  17. Riley Adams was available! What a day. Will the Jays do something? Should they. Such a critical game tonight. NBA draft day....Masai doesn't even have a contract...what's going to happen? The Olympics are in full swing, so many Canadians I've never heard of that I feel compelled to watch...and Canada taking on Mexico in the semi finals of the Gold cup. A great tune up for world cup qualifiers. I'm being pulled in so many directions today. I'm going to have to buy my son an xbox game to keep him entertained..lol.
  18. Kinda feels like someone was like. Hey Ax wants to pitch. He's part of the family now that he's in the booth. He did pretty well with the Canadian Olympic team. OK he's part of the family, we'll indulge the fantasy. He's not going to do well enough in the minors to justify a spot and he'll be grateful we gave him a shot. At some point they're going to have to bring him up if he keeps putting zeros up or why did you give him this opportunity in the first place.
  19. fair enough...point taken. Both Groshans and Martin should be mlb ready sometime next year. Smith is ready for a look now, but he can't find a spot. Martinez is firing on all cylinders and is probably 2 years out. Lopez is probably ready next year at some point too if he progresses. We still have Jiminez and Hiraldo a couple years out. Beltre is the young stud 4 or 5 years out. It's a shame we pissed away so many games this year. We really do have a lot of prospect capital to spend.
  20. OK..maybe I was reaching there, but I'll take Groshan's over Duran thank you very much. Don't type without the research. I just remember looking up Taylor a few weeks ago and he struck out 23% of the time and walked 15% of the time with a 1.212 OPS in June. He's had a much worse July with the K rates jumping now that I look. Taylor is a guy we should be trading. Some team like Arizona or Colorado will take him in the rule 5. We need to make some sort of decision on Smith. I wish we would have brought him up instead of Valera. Smith will get taken in the rule 5 too. The 40 is getting pretty jammed up. What happened to Joey Murray? I feel like he had tommy John, but can't remember.
  21. Prospects are hard to discern, but groshan's by all reports has more speed and athleticism. He strikes out less and he's a year older playing at a higher level. I think the Jays should value him more than Duran. Fangraphs may have Duran higher than some sites. Texas may think Duran is better than Groshans. Who knows. I think it's a bit early to put Groshans in the Devon Travis category. He's had 207 PA this year. It's not like he's missed most of the season.
  22. Groshans is a 21 year old top 100 prospect playing AA. Duran is a 22 year old playing single A. Duran is more comparable to Samad Taylor who is also 22 but playing at AA.
  23. Ben Wagner is a good dude and does a good job as well. Happy he's back calling games.
