  1. He's thrown a couple nice change ups for strikes too....I know he's got 4 walks, but he's showing baby steps...only 3 hits and 5 strikeouts so far.
  2. if the jays lose this the longest 9 inning regular season game in history....i'm going to lose it!
  3. for the record, I do think it was a mistake to put Castro in the closers role. Baseball is a mental grind and throwing him into the fire made zero sense. That said, I do think he's a special pitcher. I guess in 3 or 4 years, we'll have the answer to that question.
  4. yeah..you're probably right..Pedro likely knows nothing about pitching mechanics or the abilities required to be a quality mlb pitcher. My mistake.
  5. Pedro Martinez called Castro one of the best young pitchers in the game. He called him special. KATOH projects castro a nothing special type player based off 170 minor league innings from the ages of 17 to 19. The computerized statistical model or the scouting ability of an independent hall of famer. I think I'm going to go with Pedro on this one.
  6. Stroman pitching in September wouldn't break any medical science records. It is within the realm of possibility. It's far too early to determine if his body is healing faster than the norm or not and the position of the team will determine if they would consider letting him pitch if his rehab is going well.
  7. he gave the jays some good innings. He pitched through injuries in a lot of pain. You can't control injuries. He gave it his all. He never stole anything from team.
  8. one to nothing...go flames go....and I didn't read the entire thread. JFaS I missed your previous post...and the jays just swept the orioles.....which is the really important event of the night!
  9. you make it scouting sound almost negligible though. Jose Bautista had a negative career WAR prior to joining the team. EE was a below average player and had a replacement level season the year before the Jays picked him up and those are 2 of the teams top players. Young players don't have any statistics to project. Castro signed for 43k because some scout saw him and didn't pass and now he's got a big future as does Osuna.....and the reality is luck is an element that plays a huge part in all of it too.
  10. reliable metrics will never beat the organization that uses both reliable metrics and above average scouting.
  11. pillar with a walk...man..things are going the jays way tonight
  12. anyone know when Santana is going to pitch in a game?
  13. Jose admitted his emotions got the best of him, but you don't suspend a guy for showing passion and wanting to win and destroy his opponents. You suspend a guy who's more worried about his dinner reservations after the game than baseball. Jose needs to win and works as hard as anyone to achieve success. I don't know why some of you take such offense to this sort of attitude.
