Reyes actually has made some nice plays going to his right...he seems much more limited going to his left.

His last start he through 40 straight fastballs and the opposition could not hit him. We're not talking Bartolo colon fastballs a guy who has incredible command lives on the edges...we're talking about basically aiming for the middle of the plate and letting the natural movement carry him through innings. I'm exaggerating a bit, but there's not a lot of starters who can throw the same pitch 40 times in a row and have success. Even his last 4 starts his xfip has been decent. Is this improvement? Maybe. I wouldn't call his body of work over the last 4 starts garbage even if I was just looking at the stats and hadn't seen him pitch.

yeah..there's no way a kid who throws as hard and with as much movement as Sanchez does could be an outlier. He has a 60% ground ball rate when the league average is 44%..hmm...that does seem materially different. He has an 18% line drive rate when the league average is 21%....that again does seem like a good thing. Those stats scream outlier and doesn't fit within the norm and he hasn't finished developing. Sanchez isn't today what he will be 2 months or 2 years from now. You have to believe in evolution and not assume god made the world in 7 days to understand Sanchez. People like who think Sanchez "MAY" have a future as a very good starter realize he needs to improve areas of his game. We just scoff at the nerds like boxcar who think is garbage and incapable of improving . As if Boxcar could ever explain what Sanchez would have to do to improve his changeup. I'm not near as arrogant as Sanchez' detractors. I'm not convinced he will be great, but he does some unique things that are undeniable. I'm just not convinced he will be crap

I understand this, but my point was simply that we've heard so many times by the boxcar's of the board what Sanchez is and the reality is you didn't know what Halladay was at 23 and you don't know what Sanchez is either. Sanchez' stats could change over time

Yes Halladay's command was impeccable at the age of 23. His pitched did exactly what he wanted them to do at that age

Sanchez xfip in his last 4 starts were 3.56, 4.32, 3.2 and 3.71.....the kid is showing improvement. He posted a 3.56 xfip in a start where he threw 40 consecutive fastballs. What if he ever learns to throw a change up? What will happen to those stats you joyfully jerk off to before going to bed. Stats nerds hate qualitative assessment. When baseball analysts who were pitchers in the big leagues say that Sanchez' fastball and movement is special, the stat nerds scoff and say those guys know nothing about baseball. Give me a f***ing break. Does Sanchez need to improve...sure. He needs better control and commad of his fastball, he needs to improve his changeup, polish his curve, develop a cutter or a slider. If he can do a couple of these things, the stats will eventually come match the abilities and results...stats will look good, the eye test will look good and the kid will win games. There is a chance he never develops these skills, but for a kid who turned 23 a couple days ago it's way to early to give up on the kid. I find it hilarious that the stat nerds are infuriated that Sanchez has only given up more than 3 earned runs in any of his starts. Their heads are about to explode because Sanchez is SOOOOOO FUCCCKKINNNGGG LUUUCKKKKKKY!!!!!!!

Yeah...Sanchez blows....trade him for a quality mlb mascot and that should be sufficient.

I doubt it, but that is in the realm of possibility Im not sure how much Navarro playing is pressure from AA to play him to showcase him for a trade. They needed Navarro to get a few hits to get his numbers up and prove he his healthy in order to trade him.

long shot because after the fact you saw the fielder make a strong accurate throw. As a runner you're trying to judge where the outfielder is and how hard the grounder is hit in relation to where you are as you round 2nd base. That split second decision making process is much more difficult than the one you as a fan sitting on your ass drinking a beer watching a slow motion replay and there would have been an inning ending double play on the ball EE hit so it didn't matter in the end anyways..
