  1. Hehe ya for sure; I was just adding satire to the thread.
  2. "I don't think there's anything that's going to be that different moving forward" - Schneider
  3. Schneider: I like to be aggressive, I like to have fun, and I believe the players are their best when comfortable. Uh oh, everyone wanting a hardass is going to be disappointed.
  4. That was a whole lot of nothing; lets go Schneider, say something cool.
  5. Fire 'em all! Like the GDTs here, we make a rotation of every single poster here making the lineup card and when the team loses, the person who made the lineup card gets banned.
  6. Ricky Tiedemann 19 | Starter | Toronto | Low A/High A 2.13 ERA, 67 2/3 IP, 40 K%, 10 BB% Two years ago, Tiedemann bet on himself. Undrafted due to signability concerns, he dropped his commitment to San Diego State and enrolled at a junior college to re-enter the draft the next year. The Blue Jays nabbed him with a third-round pick in 2021 and their reward is a budding ace. “He might be one of the best left-handed pitching prospects in the game,” said one scout of the swaggering southpaw who hits 99 mph with ride and run. That heater isn’t his only weapon. Tiedemann mixes in a heavy sinker, a sweeping slider and a low-80s changeup that he has shown he can use against both righties and lefties. He’s 6-4 and 19 years old — 19 years old! — and he could grow into even nastier stuff. He’s Toronto’s best prospect not named Gabriel Moreno. --- Yosver Zulueta 24 | Starter | Toronto | Low A/High A/Double A 3.70 ERA, 41 1/3 IP, 35 K%, 10 BB% Entering this season, Zulueta had faced one batter as a Blue Jays farmhand. Signed for $1 million out of Cuba in June 2019, Zulueta missed the rest of that season and all of 2020 after requiring Tommy John surgery. He took the mound for his first post-surgery start last year and … tore his ACL covering first. Now 24, he’s finally healthy and galloping toward the majors. He delivers 97 mph from the right side with a lot of life, pairing it with a slider that flashes plus and takes a sharp left turn. There’s also an above-average curveball and an average changeup that could develop into better. The delivery is high-effort, which may doom him to relieverhood, but he’ll blow some bats away in a big-league bullpen if it comes to that. And it may, perhaps as soon as this year. --- From the new Athletic post re. Scouts on AL Futures
  7. Someone get a headstart on Fire John Schneider thread.
  8. https://stoeten.substack.com/p/we-are-now-entering-the-charlie-discourse Have at it. --- Anyone know where we can watch the press conference? Will it be on sportsnet?
  9. Stoeten is unreadable.
  10. Fair but I don't think I ever saw a player tell the dugout NOT to challenge on a play, fully knowing they are going to lose it. Most 'wrong's are players wanting a challenge on close plays. This was the other way around. Vladdy was owning up to his mistake and didn't want the club to make it more of a mistake. How do you not listen to the guy who is saying 'I did not step on 1st base, its an error on my part, don't challenge' Like hell, reprimand the video relay guy for relaying the go-ahead then; can't do that at this stage on a play that wasn't even close 'cause his foot was inches away from the bag.
  11. For anyone else that missed it: (4:50 mark)
  12. Is Arash an idiot or is he saying the FO intentionally held the Jays hostage so they would have a reason to fire Montoyo?
  13. Nah, we wait; we get them in WC game and absolutely wipe the floor with them and THEN we send a thank you note.
  14. Like talking to players when they are spiraling - as with Vlad last night. I have yet to see (publicly, in the dugout) Charlie go to someone and talk to them other than pitchers to tell them, they are done for the night. Granted I don't see Cora/Boone do it either but I don't watch Yanks/Sox games as frequently as I do Jays games (which is every day). Cora, in an interview, told a reporter to piss off about questioning his managing decisions because 'I am the manager and this is how I do it'. Alek was pissed he got taken off? Charlie just walks away and Schneider & Walker talk to him. Gibbons, on the other hand, would address that s*** right there and then lol. Not sure which is the better way, but I kind of get the feeling Charlie wanted to be liked by everyone.
  15. I wonder if the Angels would do Vlad + Kikuchi for Ohtani Arte just wants superstars and Minasian loves meh starting pitchers, perfect fit. (just a tongue in cheek, don't hate)
  16. Only one I see moving at this stage would be Teo (but it'd be selling quite low) - Gurriel too hot, Vlad too cornerstone, Berrios too much money. Problem is we don't really have anyone to take over an RF spot unless you bank on Tapia/Zimmer taking that spot forever. No real OF depth in AAA unless they select Nathan Lukes' contract. Can trade Gurriel (but that'd dent the offense quite a bit atm) and get Biggio to LF
  17. He coached Bo & Vlad through the entirety of minors didn't he?
  18. Already started - Mariners' fans taking credit for breaking the Jays and getting Montoyo fired, lol
  19. Vlad just needs some time off from the game. I wish he just said no to the ASG and straight up rested and got his mind back into the game. I suppose you want the accolade though that you are an AS. Not sure if it gets removed should you say 'no' to attending (since they seem to replace the people that aren't attending). He's trying but a lot of stuff isn't going his way; dude just needs a mini vacation.
  20. For me, I think the context of starting pitching (or what 'slot' they should supposedly to go into) should come down to what your immediate opponents are fielding (might change next year cause its going to be a balanced schedule) Your top 3 for Yankees are Cole (3.05), Cortes (2.74), Severino (3.11); all with 1 WHIP and under 4 FIP (only Cortes is above 3.5 FIP, at 3.62 FIP) Your top 3 for Rays are McC (1.73), Kluber (3.58), Rasmussen (3.11); all with 1.1 WHIP or less and under 4 FIP (only Rasmussen is above 3.3 FIP, at 3.7 FIP) Sox are injured, I don't even know what their starting rotation is going to be once everyone comes back lol - Sale, Wacha, Eovaldi would be their top 3 I guess? That'd make Severino (I think Cortes but we'll just go with stats), Kluber, and Eovaldi (3.16 ERA, 4.53 FIP, 1.1 WHIP) the 3rd starters? --- Berrios' 5 best years (so ignoring this year): 3.74 ERA, 3.79 FIP, 1.15 WHIP He's close (at least in a sense better than Eovaldi) and I remember Twins fans saying that when he's off, he gets blown out - so maybe he does get QS with most games, but the one or two odd starts, he completely unravels. So if he gets to that level again (where he reduces his FB rate and increases his GB rate back to norms, HH% drops back to norms - his HR/FB is up 4%, oof), he can be a definite 3rd. This year, I am not sure yet. He needs to put up a string of QS to even sway the needle. He's probably the 4th this year at this moment (I trust Stripling more than I trust Berrios). Also, keep in mind, his confidence completely dives into the abyss when he's crumbling. He looks lost and can't seem to reel it back in. He isn't like Kikuchi where he straight up doesn't trust his stuff anymore, but when he's giving up hits/runs/walks, he starts taking ages between each pitch like he's just not sure what to do. Maybe we do need someone like Jansen with him to anchor him when stuff is going south, but that trepidation would suck as your #3 in postseason.
  21. Statistically perhaps; I don't know if a 4 ERA guy (career wise) is good for a 3rd in the AL East though (at least not this year)
  22. Berrios, to me, feels like a pitcher that plays off what you are guessing. Aside from his 2-seamer that runs to the right and his slurve (which he doesn't use that much anymore for w.e reason) runs down and to the left, every other pitch is a hittable pitch. He keeps you off-balance by changing eye-lines, speed (with the different pitches, even varying FB velos), and get the ball and throw (no time for the batter to really think). If he makes the quality of pitches at the locations that he needs to, he'll do fine. If he doesn't and misses them, they are all meatballs ready to get smoked. Thankfully, he hardly ever walks anyone (which he did a LOT during the 6 starts he was terrible) which means most barrel/HH% end up hurting for a solo-HR at most or a streak of lucky hits after a hard-hit. I think he's a fine 4th, but the contract doesn't justify that he's a 4th. We'll see how it develops; if he keeps us in the game every time, then that's okay. The 13 Ks are definitely Phillies being swing happy (though Nick struck out once swinging, once looking) but his chase % on savant is back up to 85 percentile and his opponent's xwOBA is trending in the right direction.
