It is a hypothetical, so obviously I am going to be wishful. Just be glad, I didn't say we should sign Trea Turner and move Bo to 2nd.
They are more or less going to run the exact same setup next year. We'll once again run into no appreciable slot to get a good LHB in, regularly/consistently.
The only bat would be Josh Bell who is a FA next year and I don't think Padres extend him due to everyone else, but that removes our 'using-DH-as-a-spot-to-rest-people-in' capability.
While I understand the whole reasoning, I just kinda wish the person we are putting on field, such that our good players can DH as a mini-rest, is capable of producing to the level of putting a true DH + the good player on the field.
I.e. Bell (DH) + Springer (OF) v. Springer (DH) + Tapia (OF)
A true CF will be looked at in 2024, not 2023 for sure. But I don't want to break Springer either since I rather keep him productive until 2026. The earlier he is moved, the better it'll be.
Sure Tapia doesn't need to be traded (not like we get much, I was just trying to draw up a 13-man position player/26).
