  10. tbh, that's what they want to do - considering Teo was getting high fives in the dugout, its how they want to play.
  11. Guess sometimes the risk pays off, sometimes it doesn't.
  12. Pitchers going for a speed run.
  13. Interesting twitter thread.
  14. It is a hypothetical, so obviously I am going to be wishful. Just be glad, I didn't say we should sign Trea Turner and move Bo to 2nd. They are more or less going to run the exact same setup next year. We'll once again run into no appreciable slot to get a good LHB in, regularly/consistently. The only bat would be Josh Bell who is a FA next year and I don't think Padres extend him due to everyone else, but that removes our 'using-DH-as-a-spot-to-rest-people-in' capability. While I understand the whole reasoning, I just kinda wish the person we are putting on field, such that our good players can DH as a mini-rest, is capable of producing to the level of putting a true DH + the good player on the field. I.e. Bell (DH) + Springer (OF) v. Springer (DH) + Tapia (OF) A true CF will be looked at in 2024, not 2023 for sure. But I don't want to break Springer either since I rather keep him productive until 2026. The earlier he is moved, the better it'll be. Sure Tapia doesn't need to be traded (not like we get much, I was just trying to draw up a 13-man position player/26).
  15. Don't know which position but I've just heard it somewhere that they are thinking of trying/already trying new positions for him.
  16. Ya that's fair, but I feel like the OF options for CF are so meh unless we take a gamble on Marisnick. The best option we have is 2024 where the Korean 25 yr old superstar gets posted.
  17. Teo gets moved since Springer plays RF pretty comfortably. Gurriel stays. We might run Merrifield in CF (he's cheap af next year, never gets hurt). Tapia probably gets traded We'll need a offensive upgrade at 2B for next year and kinda hope Chapman continues his July version. Moreno probably will come up - apparently he's learning a new position? Possibly Horwitz as well since now he has to get on 40-man roster. RF - Springer CF - Merrifield LF - Gurriel 1B - Vlad 2B - ??? SS - Bo 3B - Chapman C - Kirk DH - ??? Bench - Biggio/Espinal/Moreno/Zimmer TBD - Jansen
  18. Ya that's fair and he can go for that kind of money if he wants. Jays shouldn't bite at all; his plate discipline will not scale and his arm from SS still lacks consistent accuracy. Vlad is worth the deal - a bit north of what Austin Riley got, atm (but he can still repeat a MVP year and get absolutely paid by us). I can even see LGJ getting a good deal if he continues this OBP streak. We also have to consider Kirk, Manoah, possibly another CF, lefty slugger bats for the future. Bo is not a commitment that is smart to make, not unless he makes some dramatic changes to his plate approach or he goes for relatively cheap.
  19. 300M is like a ballpark away from what Bo should get, even if we assume last year's performance is what he'll be for the rest of his career. 10-15M AAV is tops; he isn't elite even when he's on, just a good player who is having a league average season.
