Yeah, common among any professional sport. That's why I found this tweet from Donaldson interesting: I'm probably reading too much into that but it at least makes you wonder about athletes and how they feel about such parents. And also those who had such an upbringing but maybe fizzled out in the minors.

Not a surprise. What has yet to be said in this thread is that Bill Simmons had already raided Grantland, taking most of the talent for his scheduled tv show and website. Grantland will basically just be moving to HBO. This has been almost inevitable for the past month. Hopefully Hen Lindbergh lands there. One of the best baseball writers around.
