thanks a lot for that! Well first of all I guess it's important to note that JPA's 2013 season did not have enough plate appearances to qualify for the batting title (he was really close though). So I arbitrarily selected 300 and then 400 PA and sorted by OBP and it was historically bad for sure but obviously you have to take his power into account since we all know that's all he brings and so I sorted by wOBA and he is 155th worst out of all players with over 400 PA. Clearly this is horrible but not as bad as I had been led to believe by the general attitude here. His -0.6 WAR is 19th worst among catchers with 400+ PA, but not even close to the worst including all positions (because of the positional adjustment for catcher, right?). Interestingly, he was apparently worth 3 runs for his defense despite all the hate for his defence but his -25.2 offence runs are only 408th worst all time Maybe I am making up the whole 2nd worst season ever thing (does anyone else remember this being mentioned here??), but there are a s*** load of players who have had worse offensive seasons than JPA's 2013. TLDR his obp sucked about as bad as everyone says but that is totally cherry picking a stat which doesn't tell the whole story and including his power makes him not nearly as bad as the impression I had gotten.

what is the best website to find this information? I can only find lists of the top players I cant find anything that shows the worst players all time

so (assuming there are 2 outs) beating the tag (like, getting tagged after the run scores) to score a run doesn't apply for the batter until he actually passes first, he must actually reach first in order for his team to score?? im pretty sure I botched this call in the past. is the rule different in softball? oh boy..

I think we should be like the old board, and have all the posts fighting for the top spot (with some select stickies) but since we seem to like the idea of off-topic and prospects subforums, I thought we could clean up the around baseball thread at least, the GDT/postgame forums would probably be a place for more individual threads about the game, instead of having all thoughts in one thread and some peoples ideas being missed. separating player and front office discussions was just tongue in cheek since we seem to like subforums so much. Subforums work better in a place like the diablo 3 forums (or wow forums) where you would have a subforum for each class, so that people who only want to know about monk things dont have to sift through barbarian things. As a blue jay fan, I want to see everything about the jays, including prospects, mlb, front office, even what some might call slightly off topic (i.e. OT - Lind's having a baby with his black wife!) so i dont want to have to check all three subforums for everything. I honestly understand the offtopic forum, but who here honestly wants to sift out prospect threads in the same way a monk player would sift out barbarian threads?

This place really needs to be cleaned up, I suggest more subforums. Ideas: Around baseball forum GDT and Postgame forum Player Discussions forum Front office Discussions forum Let me know what you guys think

Im sure you got stronger but if you kept it up you would be doing more damage to your arm than a normal throwing program. The revolutionary idea here is that if you dont actually release the ball, you can make it much heavier and get all the increased strength you had with even less arm damage than a regular baseball.
