I don't think anyone is whining about a 5-year-old trade again. Just was pointing out some missed opportunities by the Atkins FO earlier on. A lot of posters were blaming AA for leaving this organization in awful shape which isn't true. This current FO believed the Jays still had a small window after the 2016 season and was evident since they didn't trade off anyone until 2018, which yes was a year too late. Atkins still had a former MVP he could have traded, an All-Star closer, a solid No. 2 starter and others who he could have moved at the deadline in 2017 or offseason. Atkins has made a lot of great deals as we all know, but yes some indecision earlier on and some trades have been meh. You can say that with most GMs, and there is nothing wrong with that. When AA is brought up on here, a lot of posters harp on the Marlins and Mets trade to define his tenure in Toronto. They were awful trades yes, but AA also made a lot of excellent moves here as well and brought the Jays within striking distance of a World Series which often gets overlooked. Atkins isn't and hasn't been perfect here. He's made a lot of great baseball moves and has put together competitive teams over the last 3-4 years. In the big scheme of things, this team still hasn't won a Postseason game but lets hope that could change if the Jays can sneak into the Postseason this year!

I don't think a rebuild or full tear down is necessary to be honest. Would still give it another shot in 2024 and if things don't work, then would start trading off some assets like Bo, Gausman, Bassitt, Romano etc.

Would hire Bautista as a hitting coach and have him work his way towards being a manager down the road. I think he would make a great manager. Even Russell Martin down the road as well.

Have no problem with Chapman accepting the QO if he doesn't get a multi-year deal. He's still a valuable piece even if his bat isn't that great. Just don't rely on him as a No. 4, 5 or 6 bat in the lineup.

Some players prefer signing in certain states as well that don't have a state income tax. Texas for example. In Canada, the USD goes further here but yeah the taxes are higher than in the States. Something some players consider for sure.

If he doesn't choose one, you lock Ohtani in a room with Nickelback tracks on full blast. He'll pick one in a heartbeat after!

Sign Ohtani to a monster contract and he will fix everything

Wonder if Chapman will get a multi-year deal or sign a 1-year contract to build up value again given his struggles since April? If he's open to a 1-year, would reconsider re-signing him for sure. He probably lost out on a big $180-200M deal he was primed to get.

I'm definitely on board with a lot of these things. I said before the Jays might need to shakeup their core and make tough decisions, but was blasted by some for it. Would love Joey Votto as a part-time DH/bench bat. Think he could still offer something. Donaldson as well at 3B who is vocal and would speak up in the dugout if he saw BS. Hitting well in a small sample size with the Brewers. Schneider and his coaching staff should be gone, outside from Pete Walker. Schneider has the appearance of an Alpha but is still a beta manager like Charlie. No fire whatsoever. As for Atkins, like you couldn't care if he's back or gone. Don't think everything should be blamed on him, but he does own some of what happened and when you look at the big picture since he's been here, he's made some great roster moves but unable to translate that into Postseason success. Keep him on a short leash in 2024. If the team gets off to a bad start again, he should be gone.

He needs to finish the 100 level infield club still.

Just some bad luck against teams like Baltimore and Boston. If the Jays were .500 against those team, they're sitting in a WC spot comfortably. Just a lot of bad luck that even the projections got wrong. If the Jays had better luck on their side, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. It's crazy how baseball works.

Did a Rays and Eagles parlay, so at least I ended up breaking even after my Jays bets.

Yeah I thought at home with Gausman on the mound and Eovaldi not 100% yet, Jays would avoid the sweep at home. The team I never bet against is Atlanta. When you get good odds on them like a 1.70 or 1.80 against a good team, take them. Won $100 the other day betting ATL win and Strider for 7 K's.
