  1. How do you define season over? Here's perhaps one way-- AA requesting the Brewers' medical report on Kevim Escobar from March. Has it really come to this?
  2. Bob Hamelin, Joe Charboneau, Bobby Crosby, Juan Guzman...
  3. You're really looking at Ramon Ortiz, Dave Bush or Miguel Batista. If the injury was a week or two from now, you could add Buddy Carlyle to the mix, as Buddy is finally finding himself after the long road back from numerous injuries.
  4. The Jays are 7.5 games back with 3 contenders ahead of them. I'm ignoring Boston who like many early season pretenders before them, will finish last. Lot of baseball to go folks...
  5. Miguel Batista. Most likely anyway.
  6. He has Chris Carpenter talent, though different pitchers. One with the nasty 12-6 curve and the other with the sick Juan Guzman in his prime moving fastball, with a wipe out slider. I only mention them together because of the injury histories. Dustin could pull a Carp, become a terrific reliever or fade away all together. It is really is so up in the air. All that said, there really isn't 25 people on the planet who can pitch as well as a healthy McGowan.
  7. McGowan is also throwing 96 at X-ST. He's been ready for a rehab assignment for a couple weeks now. I mentioned yesterday that he should be starting rehab in under 10 days and added that it would be really fishy if he didn't. He's likely going to start his minor league games btw and stretch out as a starter. Here we go again.
  8. Fair enough. I was being flip. I believe that Sierra has 5 BB and 16 K. That isn't horrendous.
  9. Also not sure you DH a guy who throws 98 mph.
  10. Sierra isn't really hitting for much power, though the power is there. He's been driving gaps and hitting line drives.
  11. Hard to worry about the BB rate when he's hitting .360 and coming up with 2 strike singles to all fields. That shows maturity. I can agree that Gose is fine but I need to add that he's not ready. He's fine as a talent and with his development.
  12. They were all very good pitchers for AAA and Manny Delcarmen is rediscovering how to be nasty. That said, in the Majors all the pitchers are Major League pitchers. It indicates that he has a ways to go. The game also helped show how polished Sierra has become at the plate.
  13. Like McGowan could be ready to be in the pen on opening day? Lol. And speaking of McGowan, it's so fishy that he's on the 60-day DL being that he's at Extended Spring Training throwing 96 mph heat. Don't fall over from shock when he's a starter again when he begins his rehab assignment in about 10 days. And if it isn't in about 10 days, that's super fishy!
  14. 2010-2013 he has stunk for the first 5 weeks. Aside from the one inning Mark looked pretty good last night. He are innings, threw over 100 pitches and didn't allow any more runs. This is the time of year he tends to come around, at least the last few years.
  15. I guess it's how one defines structural damage. I mean a twisted ankle includes tearing. A triceps strain includes tearing. I'm not exactly sure how they define the results. A grade-2 strain is 10 days-6 weeks recovery. That's a pretty big gap.
  16. During the game sure. Not being a know it all. It is a good spread. Of course I don't know who eats where each day. What I do know is that there's lots of post game mingling and people keep their ears open and do gossip. BTW, Gose 0-5 tonight with 4 strikeouts. Sierra still hitting very well.
  17. Clean as in there is no grade-3 tear and nothing wrong with the elbow or shoulder. A grade-2 triceps strain is not a big time injury. Ice, rest and compression bandages and all good.
  18. They initially thought that it was a grade-1 triceps tear. It's a grade-2. He'll be better than what we saw in April once he returns. No biggie here.
  19. Yep, he did what he can do-- smash mistake pitches. Happy he hit the homer but end of the day, he should have. It was a flat fastball down the middle from a tired closer who was over 30 pitches.
  20. No need to be snarky. Unless its get away day the post game spread is sweet. Everyone's there.
  21. Jerry is speculating but he does eat the same prime rib buffet with Beeston and AA.
  22. I think I can actually get you a link on this but cut me a break here because I've been up all night and just heading to bed. I know that Tim wanted to stay in LA because I know Tim but I'll find you something on AA wanting him ok.
  23. Jeff has always had electric stuff. He was a little behind in development but he has caught up.
